Default Courtyard villas

Do not buy a courtyard villa. The Villages will not assist you if you have problems of ingress and egress onto your patio due to numerous cars parked
In adjacent driveway.

Could you be more specific?

Sounds like you need to have a talk with your neighbor. Too bad.

I don't think a courtyard villa has anything to do with the problem ...

I guess it could be a problem! Our neighbor has the right to get in and out of her courtyard via about 1/2 of our driveway. We have not had a problem with it but I can see how one might with the wrong neighbor. We do park our car on the opposite side of the driveway but if there were two cars in the driveway their right of ingress and egress could be severely compromised! Might be a good idea to give that neighbor a key to the offensive vehicle if it were a problem.

We just rented a villa for a week for our design meeting. The neighbors across the street had one car in their driveway and one half on the drive and half in the street. It was very difficult to back out of our garage and turn the car around to go out of the villas. One time I gave up and just backed down the street to the intersection where I could turn around. I have a VW Jetta which has a small turning radius so if you have a larger car or one with a larger turning radius, it would be even worse.

I don't understand why this would be a problem that The Villages would address and not you.

I agree. You are the homeowner, not The Villages. Sounds like a FRIENDLY, NON-CONFRONTATIONAL conversation with your neighbor is in order.

We live in a CYV and occasionally we or our neighbors are blocked. All it takes is a quick "would you mind moving your car".

Get in touch with The Villages Covenant Office. There are specific rules about parking in courtyard villas. Another thing street parking is not allowed!

Lived in a CYV for five years and never once did I have this problem. To tell someone not to buy a specific house because your neighbor may be blocking your driveway is childish.

I don't think this is a common problem. We lived in a Courtyard Villa community for years and accessed our backyard primarily through our villa. On the rare occasion we needed driveway access to our backyard, our neighbours were more than willing to be cooperative.

Not a problem here either. At worse, my neighbor simply walks on his grass to get to his gate to his patio. Been here two years and never heard os his type of problem.
