Spent a month in Blue Ridge Ga last March. Fell in love with it. Came home to The Villages, sold our home and now enjoy the 4 moderate seasons that northern Georgia has to offer.

We are definitely reverse snowbirds (sunbirds?). We are here from May to August and spend most of the rest of the year in Thailand. We are normally lucky and rent out our house out here for about 5 months which pays for the rest of the year. As Thailand quite warm we never have a chance to get cold. Who needs short days, cold weather and snow!

I met a couple from NYC 2 years ago at a Long island Club meeting. They said that they live in TV for the summer and NYC in the winter. They claimed that they love NYC in the winter. To each his/her own

I agree September and October are fantastic months to spend up north----but not too far up north----Illinois, Indiana, Ohio etc. It's also a good time to take in a football game where your favorite team is playing.

Okay, so our first such trip will likely be to north Georgia, south Tennessee/NC some time in the fall. Anybody with experience with such a trip is welcome to share any advice they may have.

To take it one level further, we may even explore real estate in the area...land prices, small home prices, even time-share, <spine shivers as I say it...heheh>, whatever.

We are reverse snow birds. Prior to our move to The Villages, we had purchased a home in Yucatan Mexico, 200 steps to the beach, to escape the cold Virginia mountain winters. We are slowly updating our Mexico house and it now has more square footage than our Villages house.

We hope to be renting our Villages house out starting this December while we are in Mexico.

Default New Mexico in fall

Taos, New Mexico in the southern Rockies is just stunning in the fall. Golden-leaved cottonwood trees, adobe buildings, hanging red chili ristras, pinon pine wood smoke. One of my favorite places in the U.S.

You should have no problem renting your home in The Villages during high season!
I know this is a bit off topic, but can you comment on health care in Yucatan.
200 steps to the beach sounds awesome.
