Default Revised VOSO Map

The upcoming Wildwood city commission meeting contains an updated map of the Villages of Southern Oaks (VOSO) area. That map is the attachment below.

It is hard to wrap your head around just how big this area is so I did some measurements.

On the attached map is a red diagonal line that goes from the US301/Turnpike intersection to 2 miles south of CR470 - the line is 9.3 miles long
The blue horizontal line is from the west side of Fenney to the county line - 6.7 miles
The blue vertical line is from 2 miles south of CR470 to SR44 - 6 miles.
If you were to continue the blue vertical line north through the rest of The Villages it would go to the north Sumter County line a distance of 16.6 miles (not including District 4).

Based on what was shown previously (second attachment) The Villages will eventually extend another 4 or more miles south of the green area or 6 miles south of CR470.

There's a lot of growing going on in The Villages!
Please don't start with the "it's too big", "we need a Costco" and "there's not enough golf courses" lines because we've heard it all before. The developer is in the business of developing land and communities and isn't going to close up shop just because you got yours, remember the people here before you were thinking the same thing when you bought your house. It's not greed, it's business, look it up on your greedy little iPhone made buy the largest company in the world. Only so much can be done to entice businesses here, if Costco doesn't want to open here it's because they don't think they'll get enough business to be successful, the same holds true for any other business. As far as golf courses and other amenities go, none of us are a part of the inner circle and know the vision or plan of what is to come.

Enjoy what we have in the few years we have left on this earth because none of us here now will likely ever see the end of what is going on here. Remember, what doesn't grow, dies.

Your comments are spot on. No one forced anyone to move
here if they wanted to be in a small town or different
lifestyle.
