Hi kids!

I wanted to take this moment to thank our intuition. We made our choice last year to purchase between Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs when moving from our snowbird villa. We had originally planned to move to a new Veranda model down south, but after visiting a couple of times, my wife and I both got a feeling that, even after it "grows up" it would not be the same as the older sections.

Yesterday, we received an email with the subject "On the Rise in Eastport" with the first article titled "The Summit Rock Wall Update." It confirmed our decision as being the best one we could have possibly made. While I understand that The Villages is an active lifestyle community, not a retirement community, I just don't see a climbing wall in the public square as being in line with the original intent. Like the playground, it seems to me that they are trying to draw in families with young children. Am I taking crazy pills?

So, thank you Intuition!! You made the right call. And you don't have to drive north to find golf courses and MMPs that are not shared with automobile traffic.

P.S. - I make a switch from the "I" to the "we" several times in this message. Some of it is coming from me, while other parts are referencing my wife's and my point of view. Yes, it is grammatically correct to use both "I" and "we" in the same paragraph, if the context is clear. The pronouns' use should be logical and consistent with the description.

Really? Choose a home based on proximity to the new climbing wall? That's a new one. Anyway, to me this confirms the concept that people in the newer areas are more active and want to have a greater choice of activities. As far as trying to attract families - Middleton is just down the road. So that theory does not hold.

Sometimes due diligence has blinders. Everyday I wonder how people have zero knowledge that family villages always existed in TV. On property schools, that draw parents to a particular school system.

OP the developer is finally building a true regional center providing challenges that are in normal fitness centers. It’s ok that you aren’t able to climb a wall, my parents would be in the same situation.
However my spouse and many friends are extremely excited, awaiting the wall opening.
I am glad you chose the northern area, our family in their late 80’s and 90’s are very settled near Lopez and SS since 2004.

My family finds such a younger retirement generation, in the south, The new area draws attention for better fitness centers.

Developers are adding something for everyone, old can sit and watch while younger residents can enjoy what they enjoyed in Fitness Centers around the country.

The wall will be very busy, OP it’s ok you judge one thing as such a negative, that will bring excitement and challenge to so many.

That's really what this is about. Not so long ago, you made a decision and you're looking for validation (from yourself mostly) that it was the right one. Certainly sounds like it was right for you.

Eastport is more than just a square but a combination of a square and recreation area. The rock wall, indoor gymnasium, ball fields, pool and dog park all go into making it that. I'm glad it's not another Brownwood or LSL. We have those already. People can choose what seems right for them. Everyone's intuition leads them to their own path.

I'm glad you're happy with your choice.
