Rod and Cindy.
Very nice time visiting with Rod and Cindy a few evenings over the past few weeks while these very nice people were back in the Villages. Missed them when they moved back up north to assist family up there. They will be some sad people here in the Villages when they go back. I enjoyed talking to Rod about the various books and movies I have read or seen either at the movie theaters or at home. And to Cindy about pets and their antics and other stuff.
I will bet many people know Rod and Cindy as they were very active in the New Covenant United Methodist Church, Villages government, and many other areas. Two retired high school teachers. French (Cindy) and Spanish (Rod). Have a great journey home and cannot wait until you are back in the Villages again. We have known them since June 2005 or so. I have 25,000 posts on TOTV and more so I would think that more TOTVers know about me too and we have now been in the Villages 12 years as of this week. Been on TOTV since July of 2007.
Most Villagers probably have never heard of TOTV still but I do tell my friends and neighbors as well as others about TOTV. And this includes friends of Rod and Cindy. Rod used to book the entertainment for events in our neighborhood. That was when he was very active with District Government in the Villages. He is very community oriented. then why is it in general discussion?

Because Rod and Cindy are well known to some people in the Villages.
This is beginning to sound like an Abbot and Costello routine. |

well, maybe there needs to be a 'shout out' forum, because I could start a thread called, "The Gate Guard on Hillsborough Trail' and thank him for all his kindness, and many people know who I talk about, then everyone in the forums could shout out their friends. The situation is this: There are 100,000 people in the Villages and many who live outside the Villages, and 99.999% of the people in these forums could care less. Maybe 10 or even 100 do, but that is out of how many thousand? It isn't like saying 'Paige McCabe' was great the time I met her. People know her.

And I am glad to meet another soul who appreciates the Hillsborough Gate Guard. I thought I was the only one. |

The manners on TOTV are usually to try to address whatever the Original Poster (OP) on a thread is talking about and Rod and Cindy have had enough of an impact on the Villages over the ten years or so they lived year (2005-2015) that they deserve a thread about them. And it is in the General Discussion of the Villages as that is where the lived those ten years. I hope people will honor my wishes and try to stick to the subject rather than throwing a lot of garbage at it. If you do not know Rod and Cindy why comment at all? So Tal starts a very nice thread about friends of his that used to live here, were active in church and community, known to many, and moved away over family concerns. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM???? What does this thread have to do with moderators deleting posts or sending personal messages???? What difference does it make HOW MANY people knew Rod and Cindy????
If I want to start a thread about my dog, Gracie girl(no offense GG, we named her that 10 years before we ever heard of you), I can. So what if only 20 Villagers know her and 119,980 do not. If you don't care, why read it? I read most of Tal's posts, and reply to many. But if he starts a thread on a movie I'll never go see or a book I'll never read, I skip it. Why reply that the post is "irrelevant" if only a few Villagers will ever read that book??? Mom always taught me---if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. |
