Default Roof Color

We are looking for a suggestion for a roof color. We have a white house with navy blue shutters. I have attached a picture.

First, you may want to go to ARC (architectural review committee) and find out what colors are allowed.

Go as light as you are allowed - you'll appreciate the lower air-con bills

Look at other roofs and you will see a black mold or algae that grows in streaks. Pick a color that will blend in and the algae will not be as noticeable. This algae is a problem all over the country. Shingle manufacturers have not found a way to solve this problem.

The algae is a problem. Get your roof cleaned at 8 years old or so. The posters are right in the lighter color for a/c and something that doesn't show mold.

I had a blue roof installed on my white house and loved it! It was a special order and had architectural shingles.Did not have a big problem with mold. Maybe because of the upgraded shingles.
