This is the best diagram I have seen to explain our round abouts.

Facebook
The ,major problem with round a bouts is the fact that 90% of drivers do not signal their intention to exit. Just this morning at the Savannah Center round a bout, I sat waiting to enter the traffic circle while at least a dozed autos coming toward me exited right with out signaling. all these poor drivers had to do WAS TO SIGNAL THEY WERE GOING TO EXIT!!

Was in Hilton Head Island and saw signs instructing roundabout drivers to signal their intention when exiting right. Not a bad idea.

Even if they had their right directional on you really can't believe the turn is for real until they commit to the turn. You have to have patience, eyes in the back of your head and a keen sense for mind reading to survive the local roads. Two particular areas of entertainment are the area around Savanna Center and the Publix at Spanish Springs. Lots of short fuses flying around in those areas. Calm down, give somebody a break on the road and watch someone in a hurry go into orbit, it's the greatest. People drive like they are in a video game.

Here's the best thing I've ever heard about driving in round abouts,

Quote:
"When you're in a round about in the left hand lane, be sure to keep checking your passenger side mirror and be aware of other cars around you. if you're in the right hand lane be sure to keep checking your left hand mirror and be aware of cars around you. Anticipate that other drivers will make a mistake."

Geez, roundabouts are SO EASY. IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE ROUNDABOUT, YOU YIELD TO THE ONES WHO ARE.

What is the rocket-science here?

If you have to wait minutes, so what.

Entering at the wrong time is not usually the problem. Most of the problems occur from people attempting to exit from the wrong lane or not exiting when they are in a lane that requires them to do so.
