Does anyone know what traffic impact will be due to roundabout construction at the junction of Morse Blvd and Warm Springs Ave? This is just south of SR44 on CR468. Traffic moving toward Coleman, Fenney and Southern oaks will be affected. What is the construction schedule?

You said:"What do you think the impact will be, Old?"
I wouldn't be asking if I knew how this would turn out! I hoped some knowledgeable people could comment on the plans. You are being nice, right? I am up north now, but I am concerned about this roundabout as I think it will be the most challenging one in the Villages because of merging two major roadways. I don't when this will be done, but I attached a finding of some construction plans. |

I don't think it will be any worse than any of the others. There will 2 bypass lanes, one going south to Warm Springs, and one going north from new Morse to old Morse. So hopefully most of the traffic won't be in the circle.

Based on the OP's attachment, looks like its just south of the new firestation/customer service office on Morse.

According to traffic “experts” roundabouts can be much safer than traffic lights. A fender binder at 15-20 miles per hour can do less damage/injuries than a 45-50 mile per hour accident at a traffic light.

Warranted, we’ll-designed roundabouts are safer and far more efficient than signalized intersections. (Yeah, I’m one of those “experts”. ![]() |

If anyone has ever lived in a town or city that has LARGE traffic circles --usually where more than 4 intersections meet -- they are safe because they are so huge. The problem here as I see it is because the entrances/exits to them are too close to one another, meaning that the circumference of each circle is too small. I believe THAT is the main reason for most of the accidents. |
