I've been to the villages golf festival 3 years in a row and it's about the only place I haven't witnessed this behavior. My guess is there a lot of family attendance or the free samples of adult beverages that calms down the heathens.

You point is valid, understood and agreed with it. There is a "smugness" that exists here.

I moved here in 2000, and watched the attitude change from being thankful, to "we deserve this" and all others do not work, did not work, or build walls to keep everyone out but us. (not political...speaking of the attitude toward Wildwood, Leesburg, etc.)

It permeates this board, entertainment venues, attitudes on restaurants and the attitude of the only opinion IS MY OPINION.

I, and am going further than perhaps you were headed, am disappointed in anyone (whatever generation) that demeans others without an ounce of respect for others OR their opinions.

Many like to talk about Snowbirds but without them many prices, would be over the top. I believe most are just glad to be in TV, if only for 3 or 4 months a year. As time goes onward, some become full-time or at least seasonal residents.

Yep!

Courtesy of the Snowbirds, who pay year-around amenity fees (thereby keeping them low for all), those of us who are full-time residents...should give thanks to them in spite of the crowding during 'The Season.'

"In a soldier’s stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I’d become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now"

OMG. I loved that song. I loved all his songs back in the '60s. But my father threatened to burn all of his albums. So I spirited them off to my brother's house.

Whatever happened to manners?
Rudeness here in the Villages? Oh my!
How about when 4 or 5 show up and then scoot next to someone in line, start with a nice "thanks a lot Ted for saving our place inline!"
Well in a ski line at a ski resort, it is easy, we just slide a bit forward and stand on his skis!
Here, well we just have to take it or best to get out your pepper spray. You can be sure NO ONE here will enforce anything. And it is getting really loose, so plan on it.

Good for you. I implore people all the time to stand up for themselves and not be bullied by anyone or coerced into doing something against their will.

THAT is un.be.lieve.able!!! I've observed rudeness but that is down-right unspeakablely crass! I tried to think of an appropriate word but "all" escape me at the moment. I'm glad you held your ground!

On Point!!!!!!!

We've lived here 9 years and have gradually noticed a change. I'm appalled at how people use the social media sites to negate other's opinions, to put down and to be disrespectful in every sense.

One of my favorite expressions is "more is caught than taught!" So is that what they all have done to their own kids and grandkids??? Must make them all proud!! I was raised with the notion that demeaning others is to try to make one's self feel better or good. The bullying isn't happening just in schools...apparently it's being done by folks who should know better!!!

Thank you, that is something that needs to be appreciated, despite the criticism the part time residents seem to always get on this forum. Z

To be fair, the great and vast majority of Villagers are really great.

I have noticed the same gradual change you have also. Social media is a big part of it......it seems that social media is the larest single influence on so many, especially those that post this forum. TODAY, it was reported that there were many more posts on Facebook than originally was thought that began "overseas" from a "foreign" country that were intended for one thing....to polarize all of us. It has been and continues to work.

I know we must stay away from political discussions but will just say, my wife and I have been going out for "breakfast".....at least coffee every morning almost since we got here in 2000. The tone even there where discussion was the keystone has completely changed.

People are discussing issues that are not even issues....I mean, not even a real thing, yet they are convinced it is. This causes so much grief because try and tell them it does not exist and you have an argument.

Stepping aside from social media, I notice on here folks seem to judge others using a unique and strange scale. We read about people of "such and such" generation and how they worked for what they got and those who may be suffering did not. Well, how in the world does everyone know what life dished out to everybody else ? A lady from one of our "exclusive" neighborhoods is reported to be involved in a huge Ponzi scam, essentially robbing others of hard earned money, and not a word. Let a robbery happen in Wildwood or Leesburg and you will see the "judges" come out to determine these bad people had a choice and chose not to work and go on welfare. How do people KNOW that ? Betting the operator of the Ponzi scheme would be welcome at a TOTV get together, but I believe that the landscapers in The Villages are for the most part hard working people trying to do what most Americans have tried to do for many years....make a better life for their children and their family.

I hope my point is clear and not considered political. Just a statement of fact As I read this forum...there is a snobbish type of judgement passed here that is troubling. And so much is becoming obvious off the forum in my travels.

Summarize.....we have lost touch with the truth.....we have lost touch with what values made this country great.....we are breeding a group who feels THEY and THEY ALONE are supreme.

If you think I am over stating this, I suggest you do some reading about what is happening on social media...the complete lack of honesty, fairness or even simple human compassion.

Sorry for being so long but this really has bothered me, and no matter how much I may disagree with anyone will never be mean or lie about them
