Gracie, who told you not to.
Same response I gave to Boggie, TV does not own the streets.

And they do look so nice.
For what somebody paid for one of those big RV's, cannot understand why they would want to park it in the street. I doubt there are any that are left in the street all winter.....do you?

We're not talking all winter, we're talking 5 days. In fact, the neighbor almost directly from me just came back. His RV is parked in the street for 2 days now. Do I care, No I don't because he is unloading it. So what's the big deal, it's legal and temporary.

It's legal for the homeowner to be there for no more than 3 days at a time either loading or unloading. It's not legal for friends and family to be parked there for 5 days (or any amount of days) because that was their method of transportation to get to The Villages.

Why do so many people in The Villages think the rules apply to everyone except themselves?

Why does nobody make a phone call and make it all go away.

Do everybody in the neighborhood a favor and park it for free at a Walmart near you lock it up and check it daily. Then you keep everybody happy.

Gosh, it seems self-evident that the vacationing visitors should park in an RV park, just as they would be expected to do where ever they travel. That is what RV parks are for.

Don't know whether the rules do allow this, but it would make sense to me. Loading and unloading for a trip is not the same as treating a neighborhood like your personal RV vacation spot. It would be mighty inconvenient not to be able to do so. (Imagine moving here and having to park the moving van elsewhere, then having haul your stuff from the van to your home.)

I know, I know. Perhaps what I see as common sense others see as bending the rules and where does it end and what if everybody... etc. I get that.

Am I wrong here?

p.s., I don't own an RV and don't aspire to.

Per Brad Arnold, Sumter County Supervisor ( 352 689-4400)

Ordnance, Chapter 17, section 0-29, division 1

No parking in or on any county road or street or right of way in the unincorporated area of Sumter county.

So after reading this, and my neighbor confirmed with the supervisor, anyone parking on a county street in The Villages is subject to a citation.

The reason he made this inquiry of Sumter county is because the Villages doesn't have Jurisdiction any more.

The width of the streets in the neighborhoods aren't designed for street parking.

Most people are reasonable and have no problem with with campers and motor homes loading and unloading but to have vehicles parked regularly in the streets would be dangerous and unsightly.

One of the main attractions for many was a community with deed restrictions so we don't end up living in a town like we left.
I have reviewed the ordinance you referenced and find no mention of an overall restriction on parking. There are restrictions and they are clearly spelled out.

The referenced ordinance may be found at Municode

If I am wrong in my understanding of the ordinance please let all of us know.
