Default Propane Cost

I have an inground tile spa heated with propane. I contacted Surburban Propane and they quoted $4.32 per gallon. An internet search indicates the national average for home delivered propane in November 2015 is $1.95. Are there other alternatives or are we being taken advantage of?

Thanks

A Google Maps search shows several supplies within a 10 or 15 mile radius of the Village of Pinellas, so I would think you should have access to several suppliers. It was not convenient to paste all the results in this reply, you can do the same search, or possibly check a local phone book and ask for prices.

Hope this helps.

Default Taken advantage of

Thanks Village Tinkerer.

It is clear that those of us in this area are being taken. I called the national number for Suburban Propane and mentioned that the national average was $1.95 for home delivered propane and was told they offer new customers $1.99 per gallon for the first fill. I stopped by the Wildwood Suburban Propane office and he said they are offering new local customers an initial fill at $2.99. After that it is "local market" i.e. whatever the buyer is willing to pay. Buying propane around here is like buying trinkets in Mexico. Buyer beware.

Unfortunately Suburban and their subsidiary's own the market here. I have not found anyone else but would sure like to.

The price of propane with Suburban has been a big turnoff for us over the last couple of years. So much so that we recently started looking into changing over to an electric heat pump. Solar panels and solar blanket can only do so much in the winter thus we have stopped using our pool December thru early March.
