Question New Phone book pretty, but.....

The phone book published by Data Publishing is pretty, but....
did you notice that many neighborhood listings are over a year old, listing the previous owners of the property?
I love the look, the cross-reference and the neighborhood listings, but I wish their information was current.... (or at least 6 months old.....)
It appears that the previous phone book by Sun Times is up to date.... (just not as "classy" looking).

It would be nice to have current information but I haven't looked at the new phone book yet. It does have a pretty cover. .

I tend to use the internet yellow pages, for phone numbers. You can find anything with a Goggle search. As far as vendors for contractors and services, I might go to the phone book, look in The Daily Sun, but then it's easier to ask people's opinions on this site.

Default IMHO, for me, a total waste

I can't tell you the last time I looked at a phone book....
Internet is faster and print is LARGER! Ours will be recycled!

Mine tend to collect dust.

When I first arrived in TV, I didn't have my PC and the phone was necessary.

To each their own.

The number of phone books we receive is ridiculous! I believe I have 5-6 different ones. I finally contacted them to stop delivery. Our number is wrong anyway. Our landline has been disconnected for over a year. Poor telemarketers won't be able to reach us!

I wouldn't know anything about the new phone book. It was delivered in my driveway with a torn plastic cover during a major rainfall. I carried it right over to the trash bin.

Are there two phone books? We had two from 2012, one was The Villages Phone Book and The 'Official' Villages Phone Book. The difference was our name and number was not in the first but was in The 'Official' publication.

the phone books are useless. I have lived here over a year & i am not listed in any of the phone books. However, my number is listed with the name of the previous owner so you know who they want when the phone rings.

We haven't checked the phonebook to see if we are listed. Never use them. But, I am with you on having someone's former phone #. From day one we got our "new" phone number have received numerous calls for Joan and hubby. I now know what church they belong to, Joan was recovering from something, they drive a Toyota, bought a Sears appliance, have used or inquired of a certain financial advisor, best buy, CVS. I have had to use my cell number as a contact because when I give the phone number to a business, like CVS, it comes up on their computer as registered to Joan. I also get doctor appt. calls and spa appt. confirmations. It's fascinating to find out all this info without even trying! It is getting less and less so I'll just keep the status quo. I find it funny except for one financial guy who repeatedly called. I finally told him for zillionth time that they no longer have this phone number and if I got one more call from him or his business, I would report him to the Do Not Call Registry as I have registered the phone number there. He stopped calling.

I agree that the number of phone books we receive is ridiculous. Borjo, who is the "them" that you contacted to stop delivery? It's such a waste to receive all these phone books and just place them in recycling.

When we closed on our house, we were asked how we would like to be listed in The Villages Phone Book (probably the titled 'official' Villages Phone book) so we gave them our names and cell phone number. This may be the answer why some WERE listed and ARE NOT this year: Up in VT, we have a Comcast bundled service which we've had for years and are listed in Fairpoint Communicaions phonebook. This year when we received our phone book, we were not listed and the reason being is that we ARE NOT Fairpoint customers. Not sure how if that makes any difference down in TV whether you are on a landline or not. Anyways, just a thought on how it worked up north....
