Default Do the pools really close at dusk

Last night I was headed home in my golf cart. It was already dark, about 8:55. As I passed my neighborhood pool, I saw a lady arrive in her cart wearing a swimsuit. She parked at the pool and headed towards the gate. I drove on, and didn't see here enter the pool area but assumed she did so. I have nothing against her swimming after hours, but had always assumed that the gates would be locked at dusk. Is this fairly normal behavior? Does neighborhood watch just look the other way? If the posted hours are not the reality, I might be interested in doing it myself.

Was she still there in the morning after being locked in all night?

Our first house here was adjacent to the Odell pool and it was always locked tight at dusk and unlocked at dawn.

She may not have gotten any further than the gate and if she did she would have been asked to leave when the cleaners showed up or when Community Watch came to lock up.

It never ceases to amaze me the trivial things people are concerned about here in our little hamlet. Pools are subject to closing at dusk or shortly after. Each Community Watch driver is responsible to close the pools in their respective area of patrol. There are many reasons that can and do interfere with the actual closing time. Due to priority of calls, a pool may not be closed until a later hour which is not a problem. Relax and enjoy your swim until you are asked to leave. Rarely is this an issue. Hope this clears it up.

Nothing wrong with a night swim. I would definitely do it if the pools were not locked. Especially on a hot August night.

When do the Pool Companies come in to put the chemicals in the water? Is it done on a daily basis?

Cool

Other than cleaning, I'm not sure why we aren't allowed to use the pool after dusk... There are never any lifeguards anyway and I think lots of folks would use them at those hours.

Probably a good question for the recreation department...

I would think that potential noise coming from the pool area would be a problem for those who live near a pool. If there were no policy of closure at dusk, some people might think it would be a great time to have a pool party. And, before people claim that those living near a pool knew it might be noisy, when the bought their house, they knew that the pool area would be quiet after dark.

For those who want to swim later there will be a few pools open until 11:00pm. Lights should be installed by October and night swimming will return to Villages pools in Lake County. The pools at Chula Vista, Southside, Hilltop and Paradise (Villages News.com)

Why is night swimming limited to just those pools on the northern part of TV?
I would love to swim a bit later close to home.

I am with Dottie, while I think it is great some pools will be open later also wish some would do that in the south end. As far as swimmimg after dark, our first home backed up to the neighborhood pool. There were many nights people would hop the fence and I believe a little more than swimming was going on.
To each his own. We are all adults and don't see a reason why the pools can't be open later. In the am we could hear the instructor loud and clear for aerobics class. I see no difference. PS The pool was not the reason we moved, we loved the location, just wanted a different home.
