Default Samsung ice maker not working - help!

Our ice maker in our Samsung French door refrigerator has started working intermittingly; water pressure is good, filter has been changed, re-set button on ice maker has been pushed, there's no lever to make sure it's down and the digital control shows it's on - so, I've tried everything. I've called Beck's and they don't work on Samsung. Any recommendations on whom to call? Was in the pre-owned home when we bought it so it's out of warranty. Thank you in advance.

I had problems with french door ice maker and found (with Google's help) a full service manual. The LCD display panel has a number of codes that can be operated that pertain to just the ice maker, for example. Working through these codes you can see if the temp of the ice maker is correct, if the water fill feature works as designed, if the ice tray turns over and dumps cubes as intended... etc. Kind of fun to unlock the codes that are there for a serviceman to use. Our refrigerator is a Frigidaire. Anyway I've been able to solve a couple of problems with this approach.

Probably the ice maker. Most refrigerator use the same manufacture of ice maker from China. If no success from above advice, then I would just replace the ice maker. Usually two screws, harness and bracket transfer, align the water tube, and that's it. Depending on where it's located about 15 minutes or so to replace it. If its in the bottom compartment it will be more challenging due to our older age.

My less than year old refrigerator ice maker started making popping sounds and quit working. The warranty repair guy said there were bunch of defective models made with cheap plastic gears that fail, plus they just fail after few years anyway. Not that hard to replace if you can find the model number you have, lots of places online to buy them.

You can Utube ice maker replacement see if it's something you can handle which will save service charge and labor?

If you don't want to fool with it, try Nichols appliance service co. 352-568-0300. he's does factory warranty work. Guy was very sharp and fast. I'm sure he probably makes several trips to the villages month? Good repairmen are hard find, I know it I need appliance worked on he will be my first try.

If Ice Maker Does Not Operate - Samsung RF267AE** Service Manual [Page 71]

The above link takes you to a Samsung Refrigerator with french door icemaker and shows you the codes to troubleshoot problems.

This may not be the model, but I imagine the codes and troubleshooting routines are similar for the ice makers.

Try this. Our Whirlpool was acting ditzy and we pulled it away from the wall and unplugged it and plugged it back in AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. It cooperated.

This was after many other attempts to dislodge ice, see if the bottom drawer had food stuck somewhere and cussing.

In this area, Samsung warranty work is handled by A&E Factory Service. You can reach them at 800-905-9505. Ours is under extended warranty and when the ice maker went bad they replaced the unit. Don't know what they charge for non-warranty work.

Call 2 Brothers appliance repair, they came highly recommended and repair mine on my GE side by side. Very fair and reasonable.

Have a GE side by side in this house. Suddenly stopped making ice. Was NOT getting water to the tray. Some models have the ice maker water supply passing thru the freezer door at the bottom. If you store a frozen product in the bottom tray, and depending on the freezer temp setting, it will freeze a block of ice in the bend of the tubing. Adjust temp, and don't try to store in bottom freezer shelf.

What Gracie said, try unplugging it and it might reset.

Our GE refrigerator stopped cooling this weekend, and I called Villages Refrigerator And Appliance Repair and they came within three hours and replaced the motherboard. Up and running within four hours of calling them.

352-348-3411

Before that I called Pioneer Repair Service twice and left messages, but they never returned my calls.

We had a similar problem and were told to turn down the temperature on the freezer and refrigerator sides that being to cold was what was causing intermittent problemo's. Is that thinking out of the box or what. It worked.

That crazy thing has started working correctly again (knock on wood/fingers crossed); I had just put a new water filter in prior to it quitting so I removed it and bingo - it starts working. Thanks for all the responses; I'll bookmark them just in case.
