Default Savannah Center Attire

Hello, what do you wear to the Savannah Center concerts? Are shorts ok? We are going to the square first and it's so hot, what do most do? dress up? It's our first time to go to SC. Thanks

Comfort is the key! No dress code and there are very few places or events that require you to be dressed up! You may want to bring a light sweater or jacket, though. There have been times I have been in the Savannah Center for a show that I was glad I had one with me. It can sometimes be on the cool side.

I've seen everything from shorts (even "cut-offs") to tuxedos at the same show. When they had an "Opera Series" folks tended to be dressier, I think simply because it was opera, but I saw shorts then, too.

Bottom line here is that no one goes formal! I've seen shorts at funerals, which really appalled me!

Default Dress as I was taught

I dress as I was taught as a child. If you are going to a concert of some type I ALWAYS wear at least a sport shirt and slacks. If I'm at a BBQ at my next door neighbor's then I will wear shorts of some type.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

Okay, off topic, but we really need a funeral home that is golf cart accessible. There's one you can get to by cart, but you've got to park in the shopping center lot and jaywalk across the street. I mean, this is TV. We should be able to get in our cart and go to he funeral home, then to the church, and then in the funeral cortege to the cemetery.

Some may disagree.

Maybe a funeral home wing at Savannah. You might have to start a club to get permission to use it for funeral services - maybe the "We came from all over to get to here" club.

BTW - shorts or tuxes will be ok.

Actually the entire Savannah Center would make a nice funeral home. Of all the rec facilities, it's about the only one with a really classy curb appeal, one befitting such a purpose. (Maybe Glenview, but certainly none of the others.) And the interior is almost perfect now. The rooms can be divided or expanded to handled any number of viewing/wakes. For most of us, they could set up smallish rooms. If somebody like Fumar died, they could open an entire wing. And I suppose one could use the theatre for services if one chose to be buried straight from there. I'm not absolutely sure who owns Savannah, but I think it's the District. This could be a real money maker for us. Death is a growth business. There are people dying today who've never died before, and they've got to go somewhere.

And granted, there's that small private cemetery over in the Caroline area. but TV needs to look to the future. There's a very, very large plot of land one or two hundred yds down Buena Vista from Savannah. Don't know what it is now --- probably a sanctuary for owls or turtles or love bugs or something --- but it would better serve as a really great cemetery. And using existing architecture as an example, I'm sure the developer could erect some really neat faux tombstones with 19th century dates and maybe a connection to Ponce De Leon. Properly landscaped and with the input from present residents who die in the future, I'm sure it would make for a lovely location for an evening stroll.

And I don't see any reason for this interfering with the existing pool and courts. A real win-win-win situation.

Muncle,

Thanx so much for the entertainment. Did you ever write for Bob Hope?
I'll send you a bill for the beer that came out of my nose and splattered my keyboard. Wanted to get this off quick...not sure how long it'll last before it shorts out.

Brings to mind another definition for "pickleball".
