Tal, maybe that's what I saw a coral quite a bit away from the fence. hmmmm, I never noticed that before. So, my question is, if they can do that, why can't they double fence the rest? :dontknow: It can't possibly cost that much.

Hi BF, thank you for letting me know. I found them. I wish I could have been standing next to 07 - to me that was a once in a life time experience.

Donna I just saw this older post and thought...YES I WOULD LOVE TO!! How would we even begin a venture such as this? Could we lease a small plot of land? I have never had the opportunity to be around all the animals I so love. The closest was my Great Grandpa's chicken farm and it was a childhood nightmare! They pecked the heck out of me. But goats, small pigs, sheep, lambs, ponies....on the other hand it sounds like very hard ,work and I'm done with HARD LABOR! (I'll hang with the kiddies and enjoy being a kid again)....oh well.........I need to go to Uncle Donalds Farm here, ever been??

Buffalo on the hoof get the boot. How sad.
Noticed people are still not getting the idea to back off the fences.

I got excited too Ronda when I read Donnas post. The idea of a small petting zoo is so exciting, but like you, I thought of the work involved. Now if this was 20 years ago!!!!

I was going to start a small business with Miniature horses for kids birthday parties called "Nonies Ponies". Even bought the ponies and then realized Hey do I want this responsibility and liability? Guess you know the answer. Well, mabe in my next life, for the rest of this one I want to enjoy life and have fun. Guess that means being a little on the lazy side, and after this clean up chore, I think I will be totally allergic to work!!

Wanna buy a couple rockers cheap? Ill make you such a deal!

woops, sorry about the hijack!

When I first moved here in 2001, the buffalo were prominent on El Camino Real next to the aqua-driving range. They were in this very large field and they also had some behind the Albertson's grocery store.

Now there are no buffalo on the north side of 466. The ones behind Albertsons were moved to put up a heart clinic. The ones in the very large field were relocated so they could put up a Old Folks home (or whatever). They are moving the buffaloes from next to Bob Evans. Any bets as to what business is going to be put up there?

Does anyone see a trend?

Petition all you want and the buffalo are still gone.

For some of it, I blame the idiots that feed the bufgfalo. For some, I blame those that see money in the law suit from getting bit or hit by the buffalo. For some, I blame urban growth.

Just my opinion.

What happened to the petition that was being circulated this past weekend?
I heard that there were over 3000 signatures collected to save the Buffalo.

Quote from Danger section near the end of the Bison article in wikipedia thread above. "Bison also have the unexpected ability, given the animal's size and body structure, to leap over a standard barbed-wire fence." Whoa!

Nonie, Rhonda and Donna, FYI
Uncle Donald's Farm in Lady Lake is just what you all are thinking about. It is a working farm but a portion of it is a petting zoo/farm. They have regular farm animals, exotic "pets" they have rescued and pony rides. All are available to pat and feed , you can even milk a goat. The exotics are in a seperate area and obviously you won't pat a cougar or fox.
My grandaughters loved it and they are now the owners of a bunny after falling in love with the ones they held and patted at the farm.

Donna, what a wonderful idea. I'll do anything to keep you in TV full time, so let's work on this idea along with the petting zoo. I'm available to help as soon as I finish my packing.

I'm just catching up on these posts, I'm so sad to be losing the buffs, I fell in love with them my first visit to TV, I felt they were such a major part of the charm of the community. This is extremely sad.

If anyone sees the petition lady again, put my name on the list, I'm giving you permission.
Keep the faith, kids, hopefully we may win out in the end.
