My 17 year old grandson will be visiting. I'm getting too old to keep up with him with Pickleball! Any ideas for finding a pickleball venue for him? Are there any Pickleball activities for teenagers?

What community are you in and what level of skill does he have? Most venues during open play have certain skill levels that frequent those venues so the play is more enjoyable for the individual and the player. If his skill level fits the venue most ball the seniors I play with would enjoy playing with him, that is until we ‘tire him out’.

If he has watched the pickelball 101 video he can play at a beginner session. Those are open play and he would be welcomed.

Is a 17 year old, with a guest pass, allowed to play Pickleball in The Villages? I know that they are not allowed in the regional sports pools.

OP, when is your grandson visiting? We have a little group that plays on Sundays and Wednesdays and would welcome him.

They are, but they're not allowed on any Recreation Leagues or tournaments. Those are restricted to residents (not guests) age 50 or older.

I think the sign outside of the courts ( at rec centers) states you must be 19 to use the courts..

Remember that guests under 19 must be accompanied.

If he knows where to stand, can understand score, and can rally? Just have him show up at any rec center Pickleball courts at 8 to 10 AM. As long as he has ID and you escort him teen can play anywhere in villages. I would seek out younger crowd if he can play at high level?

When we were residents I thought I would try Platform Tennis I was so-so at it. I brought my grandson one time & he was very competitive with the Pro. Maybe because my grandson is a tennis pro. The next time I went to platform tennis nobody could remember my name but the remembered my grandsons name. But my grandson since has gotten into pickleball & is very competitive in it, so I’m sure your grandson will fit right in with TV Pickleball, even though some players there in TV think nobody can beat them. Good luck oldobiwan!

Yes. My son was 16 (now 18) when we bought our home in TV. He has played regularly when we come down. He has a guest pass and is with my husband. My daughter (now 21) will join them occasionally. All have been welcomed on the courts.
