Default Scam Alert! Raccoons in the Attic

I know of three Villages homeowners who were approached by an individual claiming that they were "driving by" and saw "evidence" that the homeowner had raccoons in their attic. This interaction was initiated by the "vendor/exterminator" and completely unsolicited by the homeowner. In the two cases for which I have numbers, the cost of addressing the problem was $2,800.

This is a relatively new scam to our area. If someone approaches you or a neighbor, do not engage. Do not let them in your house or attic. Instead, contact a reputable exterminator. You can use these very pages to find a good one.

Very true - scammers will take every opportunity.

We've had raccoons in our attic twice, and they were clearly audible both times (although if you're hard of hearing...)

The cost of eviction and clean-up was $500 each time.

Raccoons are pretty big, have to be awful big hole somewhere which would be obvious even for clueless looking at outside of their house. Rats and squirrels can chew holes but even them can be seen by looking around at roof. One guy about 4 years ago knocked on door said there was rodents in area in attic’s. I said don’t waste my time and you’re just leave.

If you got raccoon issues then you got bigger problems than just the coons and opossum in the attic. You got a hole that is a major issue and needs to be dealt with quick considering rain could be causing more issues.

Of course you could trap'm yurself and cook slow at around 375 for anour, poke a few holes and run sum butter down in ther. Fine eatin and you can suck the bone skint clean.

If you trap enough of them you can make a couple nice neckwarmers from their tails for the three cold winter nights we have every year.
