I agree with you but if they are going to use us as guinea pigs in an experiment while they work the kinks out, it ought to be free.

That lady killed in Arizona.
If, you saw the video, It was a dark road. She crossed, walking a bicycle, without looking. I am not a fan of computers and/or technogadgits but, I ask, I wonder how many human drivers would not have hit her.

Was not that long ago when people feared the bicycle would ruin all civilization, then the car, then if people should fly they would have wings, then the black vote, then the female vote. Yes, never mentioned by the politically correct, blacks got the legal right to vote at the end of the civil war 1865-women around WWI 1918. YOU CANNOT STOP PROGRESS. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO? MARK TWAIN-WE DO NOT MAKE ANY PROGRESS BECAUSE WE LOOSE WHAT WAS BEFORE.

That's one of the kinks they have to work out. I wonder how many deer they hit or avoided.

Agree and at least for us it will be safer than driving ourselves.

I saw a driver-less taxi here last week, turning onto Canal St. Apparently they are set to go the speed limit, it was moving very slowly! It said "Voyage" on the side, and had a large moving object on top.

Was the large moving object screaming in pain?

It is progress, and I'm sure I will use them at some point. But that first time or two is definitely going to be nerve racking.

I don't think robots are programmed to get nervous.

The Villages is already listed on their web page as a community that they serve:
https://voyage.auto/community/the-villages-florida/

They suggest downloading their iPhone or Android app to use them, but the app says they are not yet doing pickups yet.

Also according to The Verge (a tech news site) The Villages has taken an equity position in Voyage.

How much do you tip an autonomous car? What kind of music do they listen to? Can the passenger reach over and beep the horn if the guy in front of you is going too slow? Do they curse out the speaker? Is it always in English? If they get a flat is there a little robot in the trunk that changes the tire? If it rains do they put the wipers on and why would they? If I sneeze will it say God Bless You. I hope so. What if they pick up hitch hikers along the way? Do they slow down for ATM machines if they think they are cute? Would I look like a Yenta if I bring Alexa with me? What do I do if the air conditioning is too cold?

"Voyage’s self-driving cars aren’t fully driverless. Safety drivers will remain behind the wheel just in case there’s a need to intervene. And to compliment its digital mapping capabilities, the startup says it will partner with Carmera, a 3D mapmaker for autonomous vehicles. This type of partnership is necessary for what Voyage believes is “the largest deployment (by area size) of self-driving cars in the world.”
