Default What clothes to pack?

We are making our first visit to preview The Villages over Christmas break. I realize we can't predict the weather, but I'm at a loss as what to pack. We are coming from Michigan and don't know if we should pack jeans & sweatshirts or shorts, t-shirts, sandals and bathing suits.

I'll check the weather reports before we head down, however what is typical for that time of year?

I would really appreciate some input.

Thanks.

Florida has typical weather? Sadly, it is nigh impossible to predict. Jeans are always good this time of year. Layers are the best way to go. I have a tendency to wear long pants in the morning and sundown if out and about in the golf cart. The rest of the time it is shorts, just heavier ones in early winter.

My response would be "yes!" to all your types of clothing. Our temps can be 70* with a stiff north wind and it can be chilly. Evenings too are cooler this time of year. So bring your "FL type" clothing but also a light jacket and long pants.

Climate Averages by ZIP Code

Here are temperature averages by zip code. Our zip is 32162. I would bring some long pants, some capris, some shorts. You pretty much have to be ready for any type of weather that time of year.

I would say "yes" pack all of the above. It can be in the high 70's or low 80's at Christmas time and for Michiganers, that's shorts and swimsuit weather!

but you'll want to wear your jeans and sweatshirts on the plane or the drive down anyway. It can get chilly at night, too. Plus you never know when the north will shoot some cold weather down here! Plus even rain sometimes.

I would wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, tennis shoes, and a zip fleece jacket on the plane and pack the summer stuff. Even if you're here for more than a week, your rental will have a washer/dryer.

I'll also add that it depends on your personal tolerance. I wear shorts every day whereas my wife carries sweaters in the car because she finds stores and restaurants to be too cold, even in August.

I always packed a little bit of everything. It is better to not need it, then to need it and not have it.

I think we are related to Halibut, who posted above. My husband wears shorts every day and I'm wearing a sweater most every day.

One thing I noticed when we came down here from the north to visit, it seemed really warm down heree at Christmas compared to back up north. But now that we have been here for years, I'm cold when it is 73 degrees out.

Think Michigan September. Hot early, cool later.
