That's because everyone is happy down here. It is truly amazing how many people have moved down from other villages to take advantage of this environment. 3 of the 7 homeowners on our street did just that and we have met many more who did the same. The only thing we need down here right now is rain, everything else will come as "The New Kids" have planned it, just takes time.

I will wager that those new communities south of 44 have more amenities there than the current Villages have when it is all said and done. It will probably be the other way around with a lot of Villagers north of 44 "crowding out" those south of 44. BTW, everyone pays fees, the amenities are for all Villagers, they are not yours or mine.

I do agree that that retail is inadequate but that is inadequate everywhere once you get south of 466. I would love to see 44 or 466A have type of retail and medical we have on 441, it would eliminate a lot of vehicles travelling through the north end where I live to get to 441.

Inadequate retail is nothing more than a current snap shot. Has nothing to do with what is yet to come.

I go back to my earlier post.
Inadequate retail?
How about what was not here retail wise as TV began to move across 466 (not 466 A).
No shopping center where Target is....no shopping center where Kohls is....no home depot....
nothing in or around Rolling acres.
No Lake Sumter Landing....and on and on.
Well the same thing that happened as the development moved not so slowly southward.
The population hit a critical mass level that was of interest to many national chains.
As the saying goes build it and they will come. Well once TV crossed 466 the population began to soar.

Does anybody remember when Publix at Colony Plaza opened. It was the place to go because there was nobody there.
Fast forward to crossing 466 A...the population continues to soar...the new retail continues to fill in....

For all of you that were not here during this evolution.....rest assured as south of 44 fills in the retail will come....and other businesses/restaurants/big boxes/and stuff like Shooters World will continue to come.

All the arm waving about Fenney this or that.....will be a laugh in 5 more years!!

As was stated by an earlier post.....sound advice.....TV is ours....NOT this is mine and that is yours!!

I surely hope the retail and medical facilities we have on the 441 run will be duplicated in the southern end of The Villages. Traffic will become unbearable if all of The Villages have to venture to 441 for retail stores and medical facilities.

I live just south of 466 in Mallory and it is very close for me to get to 441 and all the stores. I can not imagine living in Fenney and having to travel to 441 as often as I go there.

Think of what the residents along Micro Racetrack and Rolling Acres Roads have to put up with now because of the lack of retail in the southlands.

As for the idea of turning it over to the residents, I will vote a resounding "NO". Why? Because it would cease to be well run and would go downhill faster than a snowball headed for hell. For crying out loud, there are too many already that cannot agree on anything simple, much less something as big as this place. It would be constant bickering, it would show, and everyone would suffer the consequences. Does it suit everyone now? Of course not. We are, after all, individuals. But, there are always those around who think they can build a better mousetrap. Most, if not all of us, did not come here to build mousetraps.

With this being primarily a retirement community, how many of us have generations left to worry about how big it is getting, anyway? I just feel that we should all be grateful for what we have instead of complaining about what we don't have or what someone else does have. Not only does the Morse family continue to grow their business and their profits (after all, isn't that what business is supposed to do), but we continue to reap the benefits while they put out the big bucks. Thank goodness, they are not the tightwads that some people here are.

In politics there are pro-life and pro-choice factions. So too in this discussion. Many subscribers on TOTV are pro-developer while the majority of subscribers on the OTHER PUBLICATION are pro-choice

TV no longer resembles its original concept. The Developer was suppose to develop and then move out of the way.

But the developer continued to build manipulated ways so that residents never get to vote.

The developer maneuvered to ensure that all 5 county commissioners (Sumter One) remained under his watchful eye

An amendment has been advance to eliminate the age 55+ restriction.

Saving cost by waiting for FEMA to pick up Irma debris. The result a lot of aggravation and a reason the rat population exploded. Just ask your pest control guy

We have a three rate water fee schedule plus base rates
claimed to conserve water but a population exploding because the developer continues onward. Apparently conservation means one thing for residents and another for the developer and realtors . Now that's hypocrisy.

The infrastructure cannot withstand this rapid growth.

people are being packed in like sardines. I don't believe sardines view their life as being lived in paradise

I drive 40 minutes to get to a shopping mall up north. 20 to 40 minutes to get to a grocery. Why are so many are upset that driving 10minutes to get to everything is just going to ruin life here. Retail will come to the southern area.
I would say it’s a generation thing, but my parents shop online as much a we do. When we first came here LSL was just built, not many stores. 10 years later I can say If it wasn’t for Starbucks I would not shop in most stores in the squares, after all you can only store so many clothes, cooking stuff, and knickknacks.
I am trying to get rid of stuff and rarely see something I need or want.

You need to actually look into this over 55 change you keep bringing up because you’re completely wrong. Pick up a phone, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

And again on the infrastructure argument, you have yet to explain why you think all of a sudden, they will just only build houses this time and not add golf, retail, restaurants, and upgrade roads. WHEN HAS THIS HAPPENED SO FAR? Why would they mess with a system that’s made them millions. You just keep repeating this as if it’s fact.

You are correct, a lot of people fall on the extremes here when it come to the developers. I try to stay informed, talk with government officials, go right to the source. I really, really hope people don’t rely on the comment section of the online news to get their information.

And when it’s found out that all the outrage was over false information, people just move on to the next thing to get up in arms over.

Here is something I never understood. Maybe someone can explain it.

Why is being happy and satisfied with the community that we chose to live in considered bad? Why do some feel the need to categorize others as 'pro-developer', 'cool-aid drinkers', etc? Is thinking that the developer did a great job really incorrect, as some seem to think it is? Can't a person enjoy living here without having an opinion of the Morse family?
