Does any one know the details about this?? Heard Sherwin Williams has initiated a law suit against the Villages about being "shut out".

I just had my home painted and Sherwin-Williams paint was used.

I didn't even know they used Sherwin Williams. So what paint are they using now?

I went to the Sherwin Williams store to get some matching paint for my house which was completed last November and found out that the paint was from "Color Wheel" whoever that is.

Color Wheel is awful. The builder used in on our hardy plank sided home in 2004 and we repainted with Sherwin Williams satin finish in 2011.
The paint had become chalky and dull. Our house is in Baldwin Park, Orlando not TV. They used it to save $$$$. Last edited by keithwand; 05-10-2012 at 06:48 AM. |

Do you mean the contractors building new homes? My home was re-painted about a year and a half ago with Sherman Williams paint. It looks great.
I can't imagine that private painters re-painting individual homes would not be allowed to use that particular brand of paint. Last edited by pooh; 05-10-2012 at 07:45 PM. |

ColorWheel is on Wedgewood, behind the Shell station, near Ace Hardware.

Color Wheel might possibly be part of TV's huge network of companies. They have every color used in TV home construction. I've repainted my shutters and my pool deck with their paint. T&D Construction uses their paint on their pool decks. I am very satisfied with both jobs. Seems to me their paint is of high quality and it is less expensive than Sherwin-Williams, even when they have one of their 'big sales'.

I would have to guess this is another rumor. Some of the worst repeaters of inaccurate information are some of the folks who work on building houses.
They used Sherwin Williams on our new house. The developers have great buying power, I would imagine when they need something they send a request for price and have pretty high criteria for the quality. They obviously use a lot of paint for both interior and exterior. Manufacturers would have to meet their standards and would bend over backwards to do so because they would be selling a huge amount of paint. I would think that they get a lot of bang for their buck without any need for kickback. And just an aside from someone who is an avid watcher of HGTV, Flat paint is now "in" in the fashion sense and you don't see anything in new homes with a glossy or semi glossy finish.
