Hi, am thinking of buying in the villages but my other half thinks he will be board because he doesnt golf. He is into motorcycles. We do have a Harley Softail that we love to ride and he loves vintage bikes of any kind. My question is, is there anyone out there that likes the same things??

I had similar concerns prior to moving here. I haven't golfed in 30+ years (although I am considering picking up the clubs again) and i prefer scuba diving and paddle boarding.

I had to give up motorcycles when I got married. My wife is an ER nurse and she let it be known in no uncertain terms that if we were to marry, my biking days were over.

There is plenty to do in TV. There are literally over a thousand different clubs here for a myriad of interests and if a club doesn't exist, you can always start one. I know there are several motorcycle aficianados here on TOTV. Trust me, you will not be bored here!

Welcome to TOTV. We don't play golf either but really love TV. Golf is just one of the possible activities to keep you busy. There is soooo much more to The Villages.

As far as motorcycles, there are 80,000 residents in TV. That would mean that there are definately others who share your interest. I believe there is at least one club for motorcycle lovers. Others on the forum can verify that.

Some times I think there are more motorcycles here than in Daytona!

We live near the north end of The Villages and see groups of cyclists all the time in the recreation and shopping center parking lots revving up for their fun runs.

There was a notice in the paper last week that Harley Davidson is opening a store in Lake Sumter Landing. That should convince him. Plenty of cycle riders here.

Real estate agents told us only something like 40% of TV residents play golf. There are literally over a thousand clubs, teams, groups.

This place is a gold mine of social, sports and special interest groups, and these below don't even reflect all that neighbors do together socially!

Here are links to just a few, with a motorcyclists' club, Village Nomads, first:

There are two motorcycle clubs in the Villages and many other riders who do so by themselves or with a friend or two. I ride. Have a 2006 Road King but have not planned to join a club. Maybe I will at some point. So there are lots of people with the same interest. And in TV you will never be bored unless you want to be.

There are two motorcycle clubs in TV (maybe three if you count the Scooter Club). The Village Nomads for everyone and the Goldwing Club for Honda Goldwing owners. Both are quite active. The Nomads have about two lunch rides and one dinner ride each week, monthly meetings, and several long distance trips each year. In October the went to Amelia Island for four days and plans are in progress for a New Orleans ride and (I think) a west coast ride of some type. Also Gator Harley is opening a store in TV at Sumter Landing.

We have lived here almost five years and neither my husband or I golf and there is still do many other things to keep us busy. My husband has a Dyna Wide Glide and uses it to go almost everywhere. He never joined a club since he doesn't care to ride with large groups. I could be wrong but I think the new Harley store coming to LSL will just be selling Harley merchandise (not actual bikes).
