Default The Villages Regional Hospital/ER

On April 12 a new thread was started which resulted in over 300 responses on the subject of the hospital in general and ER in particular. For the most part the thread had a very negative slant.

Last week there was an announcement relative to increasing the size of the hospital, emergency room, and a new urgent care facility. I don't think the decision was reached as a result of comments here. It takes time to put together a plan of that magnitude.

I am somewhat of a skeptic. I don't jump on band wagons. However, I am pleased with the decision. It can only benefit most of us.

It would be interesting to know if it allayed any of the concerns expressed in the original post.

I had posted my own positive experience with the ER at TVRH, although I recognized that there were those patients whose experience was far from positive. It is a truism most of the time that there is a lag between the need for growth and the growth itself. Of course, any expansion of the hospital in general and the ER in particular has to be a good thing--whenever it actually comes about....

I think everyone tired of the ER complaints and are taking a wait and see attitude to see if there really will be an improvement. Can only hope.

As Russ Boston & myself have said before, one of the biggest problems is STAFFING. They cannot find and keep staff for the facility they have now. They are constantly short of professional medical staff. It will be interesting to see what they do to solve that problem. You can open all the beds you want, but without adequate staff it won't make a single bit of difference.
