Here we go again. I wonder how many cyclist have been hit by not stopping at a stop sign? Most cyclist don't stop because they can clearly see if anyone is coming.

It makes no difference if none or 100 have been hit by cars by not stopping. The STOP sign is the law - not a suggestion.

So using perrjoo logic, if a car or golf cart can clearly see if anyone is coming they too can go thru the stop sign without stopping. I hope the police know this, so they do not ticket the car or golf cart for running the stop sign.

another thread that seems to have eternal life.
But we see a lot of posts from cyclists stating that they have the right to be on the road--and they do. But along with that right comes the responsibility to obey traffic laws. Stop means STOP. It may be inconvenient to stop with toe clips, but the red octagonal sign does not have that in fine print. Here's some news---it may be "inconvenient" for a car to stop as well, but they have to, it's the law. So are hand signals for cyclists on the road. |

I didn't say it's what you should do but it is what most do, including cars and carts. Also a cyclist CAN be ticketed for running stop signs.

Not again. Look people, nobody stops for stop signs in The Villages; not the cars, not the golf carts, not the cyclists. Please don't start up these nonsense threads anymore.

You have to come to a full stop but you don’t have to hold on to the handlebars. They do things differently in FL.

I'm a bicyclist, one who on occasion cruises through a stop sign (making no claim that it's legal). But even I know this statement is simply not true.

That theory actually has been espoused by a poster on this forum!
