Just saw on Fox News about a sink hole between two houses here in TV. The news report did not give a location or village. Anyone know where it is?

Just moved in but by googling the street names it shows that Lavaca is immediately SW of Hacienda Hill Country Club. Can't comment on which Village that is though since I don't know.

The on-line news has an article on it, and also said one of the Hacienda Hill Country Club golf course retention pond was drained by several sink holes.

Yes, AAA with 10,000 deductible. Got car, house, golf cart, scooter insurance all cheaper than just homeowners insurance in OKC.

In insurance terms it's called a 'catastrophic ground collapse' and in 2007 Florida passed a law that all homeowners insurance policies in Florida are required to include it. Sink Hole coverage is not mandatory but must be offered. However, it covers different problems, not the one we are referring to. Sink hole coverage is more for a gradual happening such as settling and cracks in the foundation. The sudden opening of the earth is covered by the Catastrophic coverage, which we all have in our policy.

The sinkhole we are talking about is NOT a catastrophic ground collapse yet because the houses haven't been condemned unless something new has happened...I didn't watch the news yet. If the hole doesn't expand and the engineers decide it can be filled with that special cement then the homeowners would have to foot the bill unless they have SINKHOLE coverage. However, your link says sinkhole damage must include damage to the foundation. I just know that a house has to be condemned in order to qualify for the catastrophic coverage.

I hate insurance policies. Their lawyers will argue why you are NOT covered. Sinkhole.......catastrophic ground collapse, either case, you are probably out big bucks. My insurance company, USAA, who I have used for 45 years, insures everything I own, will NOT insure my house! Now what does that tell you? Kind of tees me off.
