Default Sinkhole insurance avaible on new construction not resales

I have been talking to people about sinkhole insurance and it my understanding that sinkhole insurance in the Villages is available for new construction homes in the Villages and is not available for resale homes. I was wondering if any has information about that. If that were true it would make no sense.

First, every insurance company and every policy is a separate case. That said, I just sat in my agents office today and discussed my specific policy which has both catastrophic and what they call endorsement (non-catastrophic). I have ASI insurance and the agent said the following: All policies written in Florida cover catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse as required by law. ASI offers the Endorsement policy on new construction when purchased during the year in which the house was built. If you buy pre-owned or have not had the endorsement policy, you can apply for it but must have and pass an inspection. I do not know if the rates are different for new construction vs not new. I strongly recommend that you discuss directly with an insurance agent rather than taking my or any other non-experts word.

We got our homeowner's insurance through The Villages Insurance on a new construction last summer.

When we asked for sinkhole coverage we were told that only one company (I believe it is ASI) would write a policy even for new construction. We took the rider.

This is the 10th new thread that you have started about sinkholes in the last 13 days. What's up with that?

We had no problems getting sink hole coverage in Feb for new construction. We found golf cart coverage more of a challenge. I would suggest, as others have, to speak individually to multiple company's to find what works best for each circumstance. There are no blanket answers to this question.

State Farm wrote our policy recently on a two year old home. It is sinkhole and catastrophic coverage. The op seems intent on sharing misinformation. I wonder what the motives are.

Sadly, I'm afraid that Charles is, as my grandmother would say, a kretyn. Someone who cares for him needs to get him some help. May God's blessings be with him.

Apparently he is Charles Swofford. He seems to spend his time emailing 60 minutes trying to start some interest in the villages, insurance and sinkholes.
