I have been looking at pre-owned CYVs and have seen a few with a relatively large courtyard and am wondering if a small lap pool is allows on CYV properties?

Yes, some CYVs with large yards have pools. They have to be a certain distance from the lot line. Of course you'll require ARC approval.

Thank you Barefoot for the quick reply. As you might have imagined I am not a resident YET. So what is an ARC approval? I have not seen this one on TOTV yet.

Architectural Review Committee. Their approval is required for major changes. If you hire a professional company to do major landscaping, a pool, a birdcage, or an addition, usually that company will obtain ARC approval on your behalf.
