I think that no one should interpret having their cross reported as anti-Christian. Wear it around your neck. Hang it on your wall. Live it. You have a lot of people who will agree with you here in The Villages. Like ME.

Please don't put anything in your yard without ARC approval or mean folks like me might report you. I like DEED RESTRICTIONS.
Amen, sister. (Except I myself would change the first sentence to read "I have NO problem with any religious symbol," which I think you meant anyway.)

I have wondered often about folks who "love deed restrictions". I guess if you came from a low district world, one might see the need for such rules. Here in the Villages where home prices are at least 30% higher than the surrounding area, I dont really see the need. The vast majority keep THEIR properties in a pleasing manor. I sure as hell dont get the,"I Love Deed Restrictions" mind set. I prefer not to live in a"stepford wives world".

I would agree 100 per cent with Gracies post. Good judgement and taste are not a function of income.

If they find those other symbols offensive or inappropriate, then they should understand how people with other beliefs might find their particular symbols offensive or inappropriate.

However, if you move into a neighborhood or community where the pre-existing local rules preclude such displays, then you need to abide by the rules. If you don't want to abide by the rules, whether it's for yard displays, golf cart speed limits or whatever, then you really need to either organize to get the rules changed or consider moving to another neighborhood or community.
Well said.

I doubt many Villages residents come from a "low district world". Yet many residents want to see deed restrictions enforced.

You don't have to love living in a Deed Restrictions world.

However, that is where you choose to live, so if you violate one of the deed restrictions, you can expect to have someone report it.

When there are no rules:
Potsdam's Toilet Planters

Individualism outside of your walls is fine when you've got 10 acres of land. When you have One Tenth of an acre, not so much.

Yup. Even people with lots of dough have some unusual taste. Here is one I don't like. So glad for Deed Restrictions.

For pete's sake; it's a cross not a statue of Hitler! Leave it alone; why make issues out of non issues. If you find it offensive, don't look at it. Like some of the posters wrote, get a life or a hobby and worry about what goes on in your own home!

And of course issue-worthiness is judged by your criteria, right?

So, if it were a statue of Hitler...you would have a problem with it?

Why?

Would you be OK if it were an Islamic religious symbol in the front yard?

Or...(insert any other religious/political symbol)?

Whom do you think should get to make the determination, of what should be "left alone"...versus that which should adhere to deed restrictions?
