I was merely looking for some ideas. The smell is bad daily sometimes it comes in several times a day. Perhaps calling the police is my only recourse. I agree with minding my own business, but I shouldn’t have to endure the smell continuously going into my lanai. That makes it my business. I like to leave our sliders open, I shouldn’t have to avoid my own areas in my own home.

Ooooooo! I can’t stand the constant wind chimes! Noticing it more with the snow birds returning. Thinking of calling the police!

Does anyone know where I can purchase some incense that replicates the wonderful smell of someone smoking a joint while driving their gas golf cart through a tunnel?

Not saying this isn't a lot of effort to be vindictive, but some might be tempted to get powerful fan from Home Depot and blow it toward the offending residence. Then, in front of the fan, put a paper sack full of accumulated dog waste. Finally, light said sack on fire and go back inside for a while. Repeat every time you notice the offending aroma.

Maybe a clue will be gotten.

Interesting article, thanks for mentioning it.

As I read it I noticed that many of the people who reported having problems were what I would consider to be very heavy users. Not once a week or once in a while but 20 days out of the month if not every day. The problems seemed to be a surprise to the authors of the article but should they be? Would the authors be just as surprised if someone who was drunk 20 days out the month or all day every day had health problems?

Perhaps the health problems aren't due to simple marijuana use, perhaps the health problems are due to overuse and abuse. And yes, some will be adversely affected by even a little marijuana use just as some are adversely affected by a little gluten or a little peanut dust or a little alcohol.

We really need to see a controlled study to determine whether moderate use of marijuana causes health problems, how much marijuana use will cause health problems, and whether any health problems are lessened with marijuana use. Anecdotal evidence says some health problems are minimized and the NYT article gives some reason to believe that daily marijuana use can lead to health problems but we really need more and better information.

Breathing anything combustible is not healthy, whether it's cigarettes, cigars, or a joint. If you have ever smoked weed out of a pipe you will know it's a weekly chore scraping resin and tar buildup up, otherwise it becomes a gooey mess. If one has to use it daily, edibles would be a healthier choice.

Just a thought . . . I have heard some cannabis strains stink more than others. You could research what strains don't stink, then buy some seeds (widely available online, purportedly legal to sell and buy) grow some and gift it to annoying neighbor. Since that stuff can cost $3000 a pound, your neighbor might be grateful. And you could be the star of the driveway parties.

I understand your angst.
But.
I would go one more time and speak with the neighbor and tell him what you will do regarding calling the police.
You put the ball back in his court, ie. smoke in the house, or accept a visit from the police.
I don't know what the police will or can do about the situation, but going straight into report mode without a final warning, could open a bigger can of worms.
JMO.
Good luck.

But every pot smoker I know (and I know a lot more now that it's legal here) smokes every day. I've only known 1 person to be a full blown daily drinking alcoholic that was close to me in my entire life.
I come from a family of several alcoholics. Alcohol can be really bad. Proven to destroy your body and mind. Probably not so much if done in moderation, just like pot. I do gummies but don't overdo it. It's much better for me than alcohol, my body let's me know that. No hangovers, dehydration Bad liver, etc.

I can either go inside or ignore it and continue enjoying my pool.
Perhaps go hang out with your neighbor. You just might learn something.

Of course you could go join your neighbor. See what all the fuss is about. You may be surprised.

That is not funny, and if you let your dog do that, you are a bad neighbor. Jmho?
Flags on the ground, low enough to be targets for a Chihuahua are a problem.

It’s illegal to grow at home in Florida, even with a Medical card. They can’t tax what you produce yourself.
