Someone said it’s illegal for recreational use; well how do you determine when someone is smoking because they are enjoying it or because it helps them with whatever their situation. You really don’t need to give any medical problems as a reason to have it and you do an online virtual appointment with a doctor to get the card. The whole thing takes minutes and anyone can get the card.

Recreational use is very much NOT legal in Florida. Easy does not mean legal. The law has a list of medical conditions required to obtain a card. If there are online "doctors" who will approve the card without confirming the condition, that still doesn't make it legal.

My conscience will not allow me to lie to get a card. (it has something to do with drugs, my conscience has no problem with 40mph down Morse)

As it was explained during the campaign, Florida law requires that a citizen's initiative amendment be limited to a single issue. If an argument can be made that the initiative attempts to change more than one aspect of the constitution then the amendment is disqualified and not allowed on the ballot. This amendment could have made recreational usage legal OR it could have made home growing legal BUT NOT BOTH.

It certainly could have been written as a general issue. Cannabis could have just been made legal. The tit for tat of usage, selling, growing, trading, gummies, smoking, etc. could all have just been covered as one legalization of the product. Instead the amendment had stipulations that made smoking it OK, but not growing it. What’s next, you can’t brew your own beer or make your own wine?

Pot is legal. Be glad it is not a cigar. Or worse, someone growing portobello mushrooms.

Or go through the day in excruciating nerve pain that can easily be blunted by pot.
Sometimes crutches are a very good thing, like literal crutches are.

The amendment said no such thing.

The amendment authorized MMTCs to sell for personal use and the amendment authorized possession of small amounts for personal use.

The closest the amendment came to even mentioning restrictions on who can cultivate is with the language:
The legislature may provide for the licensure of entities that are not Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers to acquire, cultivate, possess, process, transfer, transport, sell, and distribute marijuana products and marijuana accessories for personal use by adults.
This language makes it clear the amendment DOES NOT prohibit growing for personal use but acknowledges that it is up to the legislature to allow it.

I really wish people would try to understand what they are voting for rather than just taking the word of some talking head who was paid to mislead them.

I suspect they are smoking it to block the stink coming from your home

It’s Christmas. Be a great neighbor and get your neighbors a VAPORIZER. Problem solved, no more smell wafting over to you, or anyone else for that matter.
Or at least educate your neighbors about the virtues vaporizers.
FYI- a vaporizer heats up gods plant to extract the good stuff but does not combust it. No burning of the bush means no smell. You can thank me for such awesome advice later.
I find it hard to believe in such a long thread that I’m the first one to come up with such brilliant advice.

And sometimes people feign a limp in order to ride in a wheelchair and cut to the head of the line at Disney.

Properly diagnosed conditions and properly prescribed marijuana is perfectly legal in Florida. The rest is not legal at all, it is just not being investigated, tracked, or prosecuted.

Correct, but why is it right to denigrate those abiding the law?
Crutches are useful and needed by many.

It’s legal

If you have a medical marijuana card it is legal to smoke on your lanai, some people can not tolerate ingesting cannabis, many people find marijuana helps with serious illness and smoke several times a day ( cancer for example)

Totally true. The smell isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s repulsive. The people of Florida have already spoken . It is against the law to use the drug for recreational purposes. If only they made the gummies to taste like the smell.

The people of Florida voted to make it legal recreationally, at least 56% did, but the governor made it so it had to be 60%. Doesn't seem fair, but here were are. It'll probably pass next time, as more and more people realize all the lies that were told in the TV ads. As for smoking, it's crazy to me that people still smoke when you can buy edibles, that's what I do. I don't want to compromise my lungs, haven't smoked since 2019 when Covid hit.

Some people may be doing cancer treatment or pain management, that pot is extremely effective. Consider the situation carefully before judgement.
