smells - loss if revenue ?

Last week, went to a restaurant on a square with bar outside that allowed smoking. I try to avoid sitting near the heavy smoking area, but too crowded to get our choice of seats.
Sat right across from the corner of the bar. When we got there 3 people smoking and watching the TV. Woman had a beer in front of her, younger man a cocktail?, older man a water.
Took a long time to order, get our dinner, and eat, and even pay the check. We endured the smoke.
Noticed before leaving, none of the three polluters even drank a third of their drinks.
Then thought of all the revenue loss for having these loser / hosers making everyone else's life; well stinks.

We won’t eat outside at Americanos for just that reason. Cigarette smoke absolutely ruins a meal.

Sprinklers

We don’t want to call the cops and have been polite up to this point but the problem seems to be expanding. What’s a great solution to stopping the smell while keeping law enforcement from arresting the culprits.

It really does seem to be an expanding problem that is coming from several places now here in the Villages. We have smelled it about everywhere.

I used think everybody must be smoking pot here until I realized it was the stink of the sprinkler water I was smelling.

Agree 100%. But don't be surprised when the pot heads blame you, the cops, anyone but themselves for their getting busted. Jerks don't accept responsibility .... ever.

i would gladly jump on that bandwagon. Save the planet, buy electric vehicles only.

Not arguing against your point but if you change "smoking" to "drinking" the description fits as well. I know this borders on "whataboutism" but do you feel the same about alcohol?

Apples and oranges. When you drink your "medicine", you are not dosing the people around you. When you smoke your "medicine", everyone that smells it is getting a bit of your "med", like it or not.

I think that it would be interesting to compare the accident records of weed smokers versus alcohol drinkers. Years ago when I smoked pot, I would drive very SLOWLY and carefully.

I would advise you to get fairly LOUD speakers to put out on your lanai. Then play some REALLY obnoxious novelty songs constantly. Maybe the one about Santa kissing mom last night. Also those squeaky gerbil songs - that would drive a lot of people away. i am sure there are more songs like that. The is one by the Police that is hard to take more than once. and the one like Mic.....key....Mou....se. That's a brain worm.

Then, in front of the fan, put a paper sack full of accumulated dog waste. Finally, light said sack on fire and go back inside for a while. Repeat every time you notice the offending aroma.

Maybe a clue will be gotten.

A perfect solution. Just shy of NUCLEAR retaliation.

What happens when they retaliate with BIGGER speakers playing Motley Crue or TAYLOR SWIFT?

One wonders just what one might learn while hanging with clueless stoners with issues. One thing is that you will smell like they do when you head back home.

Or not. Been there, done that, long ago while mis-spending a bit of my youth. Getting wasted was just that ... a waste.

Flags not on your property need to be left alone by you and your walking ostomy bag. Empty it at home. Be a good neighbor, dog owner. Respect other people's property.

Fl Dept of Health encourages patients to consume smokeables outside, on our property, to avoid any indoor 2nd hand smoke. i'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that it is encouraged by the Health Dept. I always felt 1 of 2 things would happen: either the police are called, or new friends start showing up to see what's burning.

this case just sounds like a really bad neighbor. watch out- don't make a big deal or you may face retaliation. I'd let it go, personally
