The bar outside at RedSauce is primarily for drinking. The place is in business to earn revenue from selling bar drinks. Prohibiting smokers at the outside bars kills their business and in these economic times, who wants to kill businesses?? And yes, all the businesses here need "townies" to come in and spend their money....and yes, local people do make it a lot more interesting here.

I say "dine inside" if the smoke is too much outside. Or go somewhere else. There are more than enough non-smoking options now.

This sure makes more sense than setting up an economic boycott!

There is nothing worse than coming home, reeking of smoke when I do not smoke. It is in my hair, on my clothes and just permeates everything.

Many smokers are polite, and very courteus, but a few are not. There was a huge debate about the effect the law would have on the revenue of restaurants and bars. Guess what, after a very short dip, the effect has been Zero. People still patronize their favorite restaurants, and watering holes.

I would vote in favor of stronger non smoking laws.

IMHO

Well said :agree:

and how many of the complaints come from people that fill the tunnels with polluted air,but when subject is brought up they try to make excuses for gas carts, not one of them care about the people who have problems with the polluted air. One even said the battery's went to dumps,False they are recycled, they are worth quite a bit.If they want to smoke let them hurt them self I will go inside or stay far away I don't have that option when driving cart unless I don't use it

hdh1470...if we didn't have as many hypocrites there would not be very much to talk about.

Way too many folks have the I'm OK it is the other guy who needs to change. Sorta like the non smoker who elects to eat his what ever in a smoking area. And then when a smoker enters, he tells the story as if his very space and rights were violated. HYPOCRITE.

The smoking laws currently in effect have squeezed the smoker into almost no place else but outside. C'mon smokers don't be so greedy and unhospitable and hostile and just plain ornery.......you have many more choices....use them. Because at some point something you like will come under the microscope....like if you are against smoking you CANNOT have a stinky gas cart.....easy now just trying to inject a little humor...that is still OK I think!

If this is the place on one corner of the square at SL the porch bar seemed to be a hangout for habitual smokers during the month I was in TV. I never even entered the place knowing full well some of the smoke from the porch would have found its way inside since after all, it is a gas. I'd as soon have gone in there as I would have voluntarily entered any other toxic waste site.

For the past twenty years or so I have lived in a beach community of Orange County, CA. I can go just about anywhere without unexpectedly encountering the stench and toxic components of tobacco smoke. Bars, indoor or out, indoor and outdoor eating facilities, even the beach are all clear of smoke - by law. It is wonderful! Like Florida, Southern California is a tourist mecca and we get our share of smokers from other states as well as from all over the world. Nevertheless, smoking controls are firmly in place and enforced. The tourists keep coming and all is well.

If someone wants to smoke where it does not impact unwilling others, that is fine with me, especially if they smoke a Phillip Morris or Altria product since I own stock in those companies. That helps make up a bit for my higher taxes and health insurance premiums going to pay the additional medical costs due to some folks smoking, the largest public health cost this country faces.

You were eating in a known, OUTSIDE smoking area and are mad that there was a patron smoking ?? Come on !! Next time dine in a non smoking area. I am all for the non smokers rights and am a former smoker myself, but don't get upset when a smoker is smoking in a smoking area !

These posts have got me thinking. We are going to buy a CYV and I love to smoke 2 cigars a day. I smoke the big ones that last about 2 hours each. When I smoke them in my yard are the neighbors going to be upset?

Get a Grip....that's what Bars are all about for drinking and smoking if it bothers you go inside or get a little table outside. I agree with not smoking in restaurants but bars...give me a break.
This country is turning into a bunch of kittens, had someone complain about an electric cigarette.

Hancle704 05-07-2012 08:11 PM

While you are at it see if you can end the open burning that still goes on in FL.

ssmith 05-07-2012 08:27 PM

it is the South

I am a non-smoker but also want to bring up that I don't think smoking would totally be banned in Florida because it is the South. You know tobacco has long been a major crop in the South. Many valid points on both side.
