I often walk on the MMP along El Camino Real that borders El Diablo. This morning on my walk I encountered a golf cart parked on the MMP with a lady Villager inside. I inquired if she was OK...she responded "I lost my apple pies". Not sure what she meant by that I encouraged her to get her cart onto the grass and out of the way of traffic. She had apparently told a landscape worker, one of the crew working on that stretch, about the pies and the worker had volunteered to see if she could find them.

Just as she pulled over a landscape worker, a very personable young lady named Heather, came walking up carrying her two pies. They were intact and none the worse for wear. She also had a bag for the pies so that the chance of losing them again was less. The lady thanked Heather effusively, and after a big hug, both went on their way.

I am convinced, and have been since early on, that the folks--Villagers and locals--who maintain that there is animosity between the two groups, are in reality a small minority regardless of what side of the fence they're on. With only two exceptions (a waitress at an LSL restaurant and a hostess at one in Spanish Springs), my interactions with locals have been overwhelmingly positive. In my experience good folks are good folks no matter where in this country you might encounter them, and there are a whole lot of them here--Villagers AND locals.
