Default So you just built a new home in TV?

With the multitude closures on homes south of 466A I wonder if you tried to get insurancecoverage for sinkholes.

Thanks to Bill and Brillo for help with this.

We are building in Charlotte, closing April 16, and have already arranged for insurance. We did get sinkhole coverage, and it was reasonable (sorry don't have the number in front of me but our total house insurance in FL is less than in OH). We were told that sinkhole coverage, or at least sinkhole coverage without paying for an inspection, is available only on new builds.

We live in Sanibel. We got our sinkhole insurance through AAA. It was cheaper than The Villages. Sorry, I don't have the numbers handy.

Good to know about AAA versus the other company. We will start building in May and will be in our new home come end of July. We just have to get a phone #. We called an agent by the name of Bonnie but she never called us back so we have to start up again and find someone else.

Default Villages

Why we ended up with the Villages! Complete coverage.

Read over your deductibles close. For wind damage and sinkhole.

There is a big difference. It's in the fine print don't jump on the price!

We went through the Villages Insurance. No problem getting sinkhole coverage which was part of the package. Interesting though, we called Sumter Marion Insurance, the agency we were insured through previously, and asked for a price on a new policy. When we got the fax from them the sender was Villages Insurance Co. Lo and behold after asking why TV sent the fax, SM is owned by the Villages Insurance Co. Never changed the name so it looks like a different competitive agency.
