Talk Host, The story you related happened to a friend of mine. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Only difference is she is the one who took the jacket. We were in a restaurant and the area to hang coats was not well lit. She took a jacket that she assumed was hers and put it on. We then went shopping and when she went to put on her gloves, she realized that she had taken the wrong coat.

Gloves were not hers. We immediately went back to the restaurant and the other woman had left. To make this long story short, she returned the jacket and the got her own back.

On the other side, I have left things at the Doggie Doo Run Run like a rather expensive dog windbreaker for my pooch Sport, a $16 water bottle, and some other stuff, and I have always got this stuff back. Someone has always turned it into the Lost and Found at DDRR or put it in a place where I can see it.

The kindness and honesty of many people in TV pales in comparison to any of the other places I have lived where unless it is nailed down and also has a camera on it, items like these would be gone in a New York minute.

That really stinks.

I've run from one store to another and left stuff in my cart. I even left a DVD player in it once, out in plain sight, brand new in the box. Didn't really think there was a need to be too attentive.

I guess it's a lesson for all of us! Sorry it had to happen though.

Tal, I agree with you. The majority here (well, not just here, everywhere) are honest and would rather die than steal from another. Sadly, the minority is also everywhere, even here. It does pay to lock your car, put valuables out of sight, be aware of surroundings. Not what we want to do or think about, but something necessary.

Having already been labeled as being paranoid about crime (over at the singles forum) I admit that I'm CONCERNED ! That's why I initiated that topic, because I was trying to evaluate the safety factor of TV.

In reality.... TV is just like everywhere else where there are people -- still a lot safer than some communities, I suspect. Like redwitch says, we have to be aware of our surroundings at all times.

Watch out for your golf clubs when you park downtown and at restaurants close to the golf courses. The are being stolen all the time. You just don't hear about or, read it in TV Media. :cop: :cop: :cop:

Now if someone stole mine they would do me a favor because the darn things just don't work right anymore. Who knows, the thief may wind up playing as bad as me and that would be a just punishment.

Sure, there are creeps everywhere, but they are few and far between in TV. I always feel extremely safe here day or night.

Most people wherever any of us come from are honest, decent folk, and a handful are not. Let's be realistic; why should here be any different from anywhere else? I'm not saying this cynically, but this is reality. It's just wise to be careful, and a reminder like this (sorry you had this experience, Nonie and Redwitch) should make us all conscious that we still live in the 'real world.'

??? Reading the responses here this bag theft seems a isolated incident for Shopping Bags ........
With the price of name brand Golf equipment though occasional pilferage doesn't seem unlikely ........
I'll bet most Villagers having worked long and hard to get here will respect other folks accumulated goods ......
and we need to remember that not everyone here is a Villager, particularly at the squares, shopping and in the restaurant areas .......
never was any substatute for good sense though ..........
