Several searches noted that trash to energy systems reduce landfill by around 90% from what was brought in. The ash that goes into the ground contains materials no longer recyclable (glass, metals, etc) along with various toxins, heavy metals and microplastics. The steam and gasses that goes into the air contains CO2, nitrogen, and other greenhouse gasses, toxins, ash and microplastics.
So, good, but not perfect. And it's expensive to build and operate.
I think I already posted the link to the trash to energy facility that is used for The Villages. The previous name of the facility was Covanta and is now called Reworld. Here is the site.......

Almost all plastics are just ethylene which is a naturally occurring plant hormone. They bio-degrade quite rapidly to CO2 and water especially in the sunlight and in water. Dumping plastic in the middle of the ocean is ideal. Y'all need to stop watching the idiot box.

Approximately 20,000. If I multiply 20,000 x 3,000 bags (a very conservative number). Just in Florida we are using approximately 60 million plastic bags a day!! We don't have the manpower to recycle this plastic (latest figures are between 5 and 6% gets recycled) so the majority ends up in landfills, the ocean or best yet, we burn it in huge trash facilities. Please use reusable grocery bags.

I blame the person for improperly disposing of the plastic bags and any other trash left behind by humans.

Untrue. Ethylene is ONE component, a major one, that goes into the creation of plastics. Ethylene without being manipulated and mixed with other things is just a gas, it isn't a solid. It needs catalysts to turn it into plastic, and that creates a new thing.

It's like saying humans are just carbon. We're not "just" carbon. If you put a bunch of carbon into a bowl and stir it, you won't get a human.

If you spray a bunch of ethylene gas into a paper bag, you won't get plastic.

And conversely, when plastic does degrade, it doesn't turn into just ethylene. It can take a minimum of 10 years to biodegrade, and the maximum hasn't been discovered yet since there are still bits of undegraded plastic in landfills that have been there since the items those bits of plastic came from were invented. The current "guess" is up to 1000 years.

And I blame the person who left dog poop on my lawn!
Unfortunately, blame didn't get rid of it. I had to do that, and I'm PO'd. At least the dog poop will, eventually, break down. 🤬
