Wait - coming from Brownwood, you cross Meggison 4 times just to warm spring avenue.
You dont cross it again all the way to sawgrass.

Correct - brain fart ;-)

I was thinking more people coming from north of WS would be better off taking MBT.

But they are rerouting 470 with multiple roundabouts so who knows...

Where do the carts cross Meggison between Brownwood and Warm Springs?

Yeah, that is how it is on 2-lane roads like Moyer, Pinellas, and Meggison (south of Sawgrass).

Yes, I'm sure they saved a bundle on a billion dollar construction project by leaving out one tunnel...

There are tunnels, one under Meggison Rd just south of the 44, one near Water Lily Bridge, one under Meggison Road north of Warm Springs Ave., another under Meggison Rd at the intersection of Warm Springs Ave.

Here is a link to the location of all tunnels.

There are several underpasses that go under Meggison between Brownwood and Warm Springs but there are no at grade crossings like the one at Southern Oaks.

The OP seemed to be talking about safety. I think most people would agree that using an underpass to go from one side of Meggison to the other side (do you cross a road when you go underneath it) is much safer than crossing at grade like Morse north of 466 and Meggison south of Sawgrass.

It would be interesting to find out the reason why Meggison is four lanes with a median north of Sawgrass and two lanes with no median south of Sawgrass.

It might have been a county decision. The Lake and Sumter County line is in that vicinity.

According to google maps, it is about 5200 feet from where it goes two lane to the Lake County line. And I would expect that road design safety doesn't change from Sumter to Lake - but I am not an engineer.

It would be nice to find out why they changed it.

Start making some phone calls. I doubt you’ll find your answer here.

Maybe to divert traffic across the new Turnpike bridge and roads on that side (past the new medical center)?

Is McNeal Dr or Bexely Trail going to be 4 lane?

There are 4 tunnels. I was responding to carts crossing Meggison. They get from one side to the other via the tunnels.

I think that is the point of the OP. Glorantha stated "I also don’t see any golf cart tunnels on this section of Meggison."

North Meggison (area north of Sawgrass) seems much safer than South Meggison (area south of Sawgrass). There is a multi-modal path on North Meggison down to Sawgrass. The multi-modal path continues south of Sawgrass but for some reason, golf carts are banned at that point and carts are forced to use the street - much like Morse north of 466.

I have tried to find out why Meggison goes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes and why they force golf carts into the vehicle traffic at this point but have had no success. I have called but no one either knows the answer or, if they do know, they refuse to disclose it. If the developer won't tell us when the entertainment will start at Sawgrass (other than coming shortly), I can't see them telling us why they designed the streets this way.
