Default New Walmart Roof Going On

We drove by the new Walmart construction on 44 and Morse today. The roof trusses were already going on. It could be a photo finish between the Grand Opening of Costco and the new state of the art Walmart store. Walmart by a nose?

Per all the conversation here and on Nextdoor, the real topic and concern is what location is going to have the worst traffic tie-ups. I believe it will be a tie.

I hope they are adding more trusses. Doesn’t look like many are in place

I rarely go to Walmart, but I have their Walmart+ subscription to get same day delivery, plus a few other perks.

Right now my order comes from Leesburg. This new one will be less than half the distance, so expecting faster delivery So the traffic will be less of an issue from that perspective.

I think Walmart will be heavily visited because it’s needed and it’s Free. We have Walmart+, so rarely ever need to visit, except to buy fuel every 6weeks.

Costco has had a cult following since its launch. We have been members over 20 years. I have never been to a Costco that has empty parking spots. Costco fans will shop more frequently because it’s close.
However there are many TV residents who Won’t spend a dime to join. I doubt Costco will need to Giveaway $25 membership like BJ’s did.

So Free Walmart shopping traffic may win over Paid Membership Costco by a hair.

Costco locations average monthly profit of $1638 per square foot, while Walmart's is around $574 per square foot. Walmart is competing against Target and Amazon while Costco has very little competition in what it sells. Sams Club has failed to put a dent in Costco's success.

True, but Walmart draws from every household, families, small or large income, and retirees. Especially school age families who need supplies, clothing, and all things kids.

How many threads on TOTV have complained about refusing to pay money to shop, why do I need 5 gallons of mustard, i don’t understand what all the fuss is about, and unless it’s free not wasting my time. Costco will definitely do well here, but Walmart has its clientele and will also gain traffic as well, probably pulling away from closer Walmarts

I posted always have to hunt for parking at Costco for 20 years. But I believe this will be the first time a Costco is in the middle of a large retirement community. Yesterday at TJ’s the staff were asking how close is Costco to opening? Some live near Ocala. Costco clientele will still draw from surrounding areas, Especially Ocala.

I believe you mean sales and not profit.
