Villager hoping to recover golf cart stolen from Southern Trace parking lot

A golf cart owned by a Village of Rio Ranchero woman was stolen Tuesday night from the parking lot outside Beef O’Brady’s at Southern Trace shopping plaza.
The golf cart’s owner is hoping someone has seen the distinctive golf cart.
It is a 1996 Dark Blue Gas Yamaha Golf Cart with solid dark blue rain curtains.The names “ROSE” and “FRANK” are printed in white on the front of the cart. (“Frank” is the woman’s late husband.)
In addition, the cart’s windshield has a distinctive white emblem of of a trotting horse with a buggy behind it.
The theft of the cart has been reported to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
If you have seen the cart, you can call the woman’s neighbor, Ed Carl at (352) 250-2304.

I'm not laughing at poor Rose who lost her golf cart. I hope her golf cart is returned to her without damage.

Naturally, I am sorry that a person had their golf cart stolen. However, I do have to wonder if the lady left her key in the switch. I do realize that some carts are keyed alike but with such distinctive markings that will need quick altering, why would a thief pick that cart over others?

Anyhow, let's all hope it is returned as insurance will only pay for it's current value.

Such distinctive markings but even so I can not say I have ever seen it, before or after the theft.

I hope someone spots it and I will keep an eye out but I would bet a thief would remove the names and decal pronto and probably the cart from the area to avoid getting caught. I always wonder when I see someone loading up a cart on a trailer with no logo on the truck if it is being taken in for repair or stolen.

Probably not that hard to hot wire cart even it you have rekeyed. Agree with TrudyM Usually the cart thief's drive the cart off and load it onto trailer and haul if off (Gone in 60 seconds and long gone in 20 mins.) Most people think the cart is being towed for repairs. So People should also be alert carts being loaded in unusual places. With no registration and the cost and popularity of high dollar carts I am surprised this is not big problem.. Or is it?
