I have noticed signs as I enter TV that state that the speed limit is 20 MPH unless posted otherwise, so I think that means the cart paths are 20 MPH.

Speeders, other than those who are late for a tee-time, should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

When I was stopped by a cop for not doing my full stop, she also told me to slow down. Not doing a stop is definitely an offence, but not sure if going over 20 MPH is.

The information is at the 15:20 mark in the video. Golf carts: 20mph, LSV: 25mph.

Not true. Any criminal offence can be charged including reckless driving, not only DUI...

Speeding under 30 MPH of the limit is not criminal in Florida.

What is the need that drives one to go 5 mph faster.....in a golf cart?

The discussions of pros/cons/legal/not of "speeding" at 20 mph plus or minus 5 mph are amusing.

There are no speed limits on the MMP’s. People say 20, but there is no posted limit on any path. The only place there are signs telling you what the speed limit is, is on our roads.

Default Florida Statutes regarding golf cars

Florida Statute 320.01(22) provides this definition of a Golf Cart:

(22) “Golf cart” means a motor vehicle that is designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of 20 miles per hour.

Florida Statute 316.212 provides this interesting information which may or may not apply to our multi modal paths, since pedestrians and bicycles are also allowed to use them:

(b) Golf cart operation on sidewalks adjacent to specific segments of municipal streets, county roads, or state highways within the jurisdictional territory of the local governmental entity if:
1. The local governmental entity determines, after considering the condition and current use of the sidewalks, the character of the surrounding community, and the locations of authorized golf cart crossings, that golf carts, bicycles, and pedestrians may safely share the sidewalk;
2. The local governmental entity consults with the Department of Transportation before adopting the ordinance;
3. The ordinance restricts golf carts to a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour and permits such use on sidewalks adjacent to state highways only if the sidewalks are at least 8 feet wide;
4. The ordinance requires the golf carts to meet the equipment requirements in subsection (6). However, the ordinance may require additional equipment, including horns or other warning devices required by s. 316.271; and
5. The local governmental entity posts appropriate signs or otherwise informs residents that the ordinance exists and applies to such sidewalks.

I don’t think golf carts are allowed on any roads with the speed limit of 35 MPH or more. Morse Blvd., north of 466 is 30 MPH and there are golf cart/bicycle lanes there. Other sections of Morse and also Buena Vista do not allow golf carts.

The street legal ones, you need plates, insurance and a license to drive, the speed limit is 35 mph.

Rumor perhaps. I met a guy who claims to be involved in selling golf carts and he said the police are clamping down. He went through the whole story. If, you are caught doing more than 20mph in a golf cart with no plates and insurance, and there is no shortage of people who turn up the speed control it will cost you around $300. You do not need to be going more than 20 mph. Having a cart that is set to do more than 20 mph can result in the same fine.
LSV’s have a speed limit of 25 MPH, not 35 MPH.
