Default Why is it taking over a year to fix the Pod A Pickleball courts at Rohan

It's been over a year since they torn down the Pod A Pickleball courts at Rohan and no work has been done in many months. What is the hold up? Come this fall/winter, we could sure use 6 more courts when the snowbirds come back home.

Very good question.

I don't have an answer for you, but would also like to know.

I'm sure one could build courts from scratch in a fraction of the time that pod has been out of service.

Or attend a Sumter Landing CDD meeting and ask the SLAD

I was told by some PB folks (so no guarantee of accuracy) that there is a dispute between the developer and the construction company they hired to do the work. Apparently, after the work was done (or mostly done?) there was some major structural issue, I believe regarding drainage, so the project is still on hold while everyone involved points fingers. I presume at this juncture it is probably in court, and nothing further will be done until it is resolved.

Again, this is third party hearsay info, so who knows how much is true, but at least it should give you a general idea of the situation. FWIW, there was a similar dispute at the PB courts at Burnsed that also caused a simple project to be drawn out for months longer than it should have.

The tennis courts at Burnsed are still down, can't be drainage there!

This may be true except the developer doesn’t own Rohan the district does. All facilities north of 44 are owned by the district

Thank you for including the above phrases in your comment. Most don't do that and it leads to a lot of misinformation being passed around.

Sorry, yes, thank you for the clarification. I should have said CDD instead of developer, but the concept is still the same.

Clearly, none of those factors are affecting new housing construction in TV, or the construction of brand new courts in the new areas.

Lowest cost bidder (usually) isn't always lowest cost.

I don't understand your statement. PB and tennis courts are the same, other than the size and placement of the lines. Please elaborate on why "can't be drainage there".

Of course we're happy there are other courts, but that is irrelevant to the OP's question. They just wanted an explanation of what was taking so long.
