Default Starmark Energy

I attended a lunch/seminar today on Starmark Energy. They install a foil laminate insulation directly on top of your existing insulation. Their claims are unreal. They made the statement that they have done hundreds of homes in the area. Did they do yours? I can't find anything on the net about them except their webpage. I'm just looking for a good feeling about the company before I write a check.

Has anyone had them insulate their home?
Are you satisfied with the results?
How much did it reduce your electric bill?

My first thought is if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. My second thought is They Should happily provide you a list of customers, addresses and contact information.

Just out of curiosity......what were they claiming that you felt was "unreal"? Performance statistics of their product? Number of customers in TV area? Period of time for payback of your investment in their product, based on energy savings? I understand this was a marketing seminar to put the best face on their products & services, so it's not a stretch to see how they would "wow" you with stats. Just wondering what you thought was unreal. Thanks for the insight.....

I have attended some similar seminars back up North, and they were more smoke and mirrors then savings. Do a google search on the products they are hawking, and I am sure your will find lots of negative comments. I would also contact SECO, and get their opinion, as I recall they have energy saving programs.
Hope this helps.

When I googled their company name almost no information is available, only their website. I can't find any reviews anywhere, that's why I was asking here, they told me they had done hundreds of houses in The Villages. Their BBB rating is an A+, but that is a gray area as well. I am concerned they just might be trying to take advantage of Sr Citizens.

Did you ask for a list of customers?

That should tell you a lot. Even if they don't provide last names and addresses, if their product did what the say it does, people who have used it would at the least be providing comments about how wonderful it is. Buyer beware!!!

Did a search here on TOTV and nothing came up, so guess they're not real known. We've been here 8 years and never heard of them.

Here is a link to a major insulation company's installation guide for a similar product. Strange thing is the starmark website shows the product on the floor while JM shows it between the roof rafters.

http://www.jm.com/content/dam/jm/glo...l_Ceilings.pdf

Improper installation of attic insulation can trap moisture causing all kinds of expensive problems

Thanks Harry, if Starmark had a website as good as this one, a person could feel a little more comfortable about shelling out the money.

From their own website, this product looks questionable. Look at the installation photos, and imagine how this will work on top of the 1`4 to 16 inches of blown in insulation. Also, from their photos, this product appears to be installed across the rafters, which makes future work in the attic very hazardous, where do you step???

If this product was applied to the bottom side of the roof, between the rafters, I would be a lot less concerned, I think. This would be a product that I might have considered back up North, where I had a walkway through the attic, and this would be installed everywhere except at the walkway.
Just my humble opinions, which along with $5 will probably get you a cup of coffee....
