We have a September 3rd 6:45am flight on United to Newark and then on to Bermuda.
From recent experience is there a recommended time on how early to arrive to check in? We have Precheck for security. Thanks.... |

We always arrive 2 hrs prior on a domestic flight and especially at that hour, the airport is busy. If you were going international right from MCO, then you'd want to be there 3 hrs prior

1/2 the time of MCO.

Wife, gets everywhere early. We do not do much traveling as I am no longer working. Pre 9/11 we were on vacation in England. Wife first of all knowing me, lied and told me the flight was earlier than it was. Then, she insisted we allow plenty of time to check in. We arrived at Heathrow airport and it had not opened yet. Carry on? First one in the overhead gets to wait for all the people to ram their stuff in there making it impossible to get your stuff out. I've never missed a flight. Aside, I accept no responsibility for choices made by others. |

I have been flying pretty regularly from Orlando - at least 10 times in the last 5 months. I can leave my house in the villages
2.5 hours from take off and easily make my flight. I do have clear and TSA precheck and do not check bags, so there is that to account for. And i am dropped off, not parking. Hint - always drop off and pick up at Terminal A - Terminal B is a PITA to navigate around with a car. I go to upper level when i am being picked up - the traffic is so much less upstairs. |

We went to pick up my Niece at MCO last week. We figured to get there a little early just to make sure we met her exiting security. Leesburg had a major accident, so Waze sent us down 301 to the turnpike...which also had a major accident. 2 hours and 30 minutes later, we walked to security and she was walking out. It normally takes about an hour and 15 for me to get to security. I have hundreds of thousands of air miles as I travel a lot for work and vacation. I have Global entry which includes TSA-Pre. I would rather sit in the airport and read than miss an international flight. Having had a bunch of co-workers get stranded all over the world because of their cavalier "i'll make it" attitudes, I want no part of that stress. Domestics, specially to the NYC area, I cut it a little closer just because there's a flight leaving every hour or so but for an international, I plan to be standing at the TSA-Pre entry 2.5 hours before the flight takes off. You burn an an extra hour in traffic, burn an extra 30 minutes at Immigration, you'll be sweating but you make it. In 2019 in Frankfurt, I got the full Polizei treatment, from Helga. I was "randomly" selected for a full search, questioning, you name it. If I didn't have that extra hour built into my schedule, I'd have missed my flight to EWR. We have been able to leave Spanish Springs area and get to gate at MCO in 2 1/2 hours(65 miles from our home). This included parking at a remote location(Renaissance Hotel) Flown out of MCO 3 X since January and TSA is good. We do have TSA pre. Suggest getting to MCO at 5:00-5:15.
Also when we get early AM flights we spend night at a nearby airport hotel. Can get 7 days parking and shuttle service included in hotel price. This way do not need to be concerned about traffic. |

There will be a line already at 5 am when you get there. Recently flew twice early in am, and got there early. Suprised how many people already at 5 am.

TitAs Mr. Helpful has said more than once on this thread ORL and MCO are not the same. ORL is the code for the Orlando Executive Airport and MCO is the code for the Orlando International Airport. I would make sure that you know which airport you actually are leaving from otherwise no matter what time you get there if it's the wrong airport you'll miss your flight. If it was me I'd plan on being at the airport no later than 4:30 am, however, the date your leaving is the start of Labor Day weekend so airport maybe busier than usual.
