Do what you want but believe me you don’t want to end up like me.
I’ll still have weeks of rehab and recovery once I get home and could have permanent lung damage.
But you do whatever you want.
So sorry to hear that. Just get better soon!

Story in WFLA news today Sumter Co. Data released showed that 83.9 percent of Florida hospital beds are in use. 28 % of those are Covid cases. More than half of the ICU beds were being taken by Covid patients with only 7.8% of ICU beds available. I doubt The Villages are except from these statistics, can anyone who works at FHV Villages hospital comment?

Seriously???? Did you really mean to say that to someone on their 11th hospital day???

What if the spouse of a deceased COVID victim wrote to your friend "Not that bad for YOU"??? That would be just as nice.

Some people need to think more and type less (me too, on occasion)

Some people would benefit from a smack round the kisser, with a large piece of Cod!

I don't think that he/she was responding to Winston Boogie.

Get well soon. Sorry to hear about your catching Covid.
Our order of K95 masks just arrived and we will be using them when we can’t social distance. Will also get the booster when available. I don’t understand how some medical professionals think they can go unvaccinated and still treat sick people.

Sounds like a SUPER SPREADER practice that is continuously ongoing. But, that's OK since everyone gets a free paper mask at Walmart when they enter

Then this afternoon I had to go to the Sharon Morse Medical Office Building for a regularly scheduled procedure. At 3:00 PM there were virtually no one in the lobby, waiting room or other rooms in the large Florida Cancer Center offices and procedure rooms. I did meet with my doctor there and between the two appointments. Here is what I learned.

—The largest primary care practice in The Villages, with over 60 doctors, has been riddled with COVID infections—26 cases as of this morning. They’re shifting all their appointments to telephone or FaceTime, cancelling all appointments that aren’t medically necessary altogether.

—At Florida Cancer Specialists, a huge practice with 100 offices and over 250 doctors thruout central Florida has shut down all but patient’s regularly scheduled and medically necessary procedures. No new patient or follow up appointments or procedures such as ultrasound, X-ray or other similar procedures.

—The entry window at Lake Medical Imaging in the Sharon Morse building was dark at 3:00 PM. I don’t know if they are open and operating.

—Florida Cancer Specialists has mandated that all their employees be vaccinated and show proof by next Monday or they will be sent home with no pay or be terminated. They’ve made it clear that the new rules are non-negotiable.

—One doctor showed me pictures of similar rules on the front door of an Ocala Hospital.

—The doctors rattled off the names of a dozen nearby hospitals who are what they called “Code Black”—not accepting any new patients for any reason. One doctor related an incident where a local man having a heart attack had to be airlifted to Miami. There are no hospitals within 75 miles of The Villages which are accepting new patients because they are completely full with COVID cases.

—Hospitals in Ocala had been sending new COVID patients home with a mask an oxygen tank. But now they’re reporting a shortage of oxygen because suppliers can’t keep up with the demand.

—One of my doctors reported that four of his patients, all younger than 40, have died in the last few days of COVID.

I came back home this afternoon shocked and scared. How this new Delta variant has spread and how lethal it is has frightened me to my core. This isn’t just on the TV news any more…it’s here, right in The Villages.

Respond however you wish to my post, I’m sure there will be naysayers and those who will claim their rights to personal freedom or claim the COVID reports to be false or created by the government, or simply fake news. But I’ve now seen enough evidence personally to know that’s not true. I’m pleading with you to reconsider both your own health as well as that of your friends and neighbors. Please, get vaccinated.

The parting words of that old Chicago cop that I quoted in my post earlier this week are even more applicable today. Please, please stay well out there…get vaccinated!
I got a call on SATURDAY from Florida Cancer Specialists asking if I could change my
Monday appointment to another day due to a staffing shortage.
Your post make a lot a sense now why they wanted to change my scheduled appointment.

Let's cheer things up by remembering that Sumter County has the highest rate of vaccinations of all counties in Florida.

I am hazarding a guess that The Villages itself is even higher than 70% vaccinated. I hope that we don't get the breakthrough illness, but it is wise to still mask indoors.

I think that MOST of us who live in The Villages are quite aware of the science of this.

It makes me proud to live here. We are reasonable and smart and aware and up on things and are making the right choices, most of us.

As Billy the kid often points out....let's not get stuck on the vocal few. Most of us are quite aware and doing the right thing.
Agree with most of what you have to say. Unfortunately, we do not live in a vacuum. Several weeks ago I had a high blood pulse and was told to go to the ER ASAP. Went to The Villages and arrived at 6 PM. Waiting room was packed and was told no beds. They were shuffling people in and out of the waiting room for tests, x rays etc. After being checked for 8 hours told that I should have been admitted but no beds. They did offer to keep me in the ER hallway(try to get some sleep there).Inquired about Leesburg and was told they were full also. Hate to say what would have happened in the winter.

TV might be very good for vaccinations but there are other areas/other people who will impact us.

I am more concerned too. Three people in my inner circle have the breakthough illness after having had both vaccines.

We had been freely going to the rec centers. A neighbor caught his case at a rec center, four others tested positive there. My good friend has it now and she said she has been very tired, coughing, nose running and a fever. I am glad to know that none of us who have been vaccinated are in great danger for hospitalization, but no one wants to be sick from this.

Fortunately I’m in Rhode Island and Connecticut seems they are treating it more serious than Florida infections and hospitalizations are extremely low and YES we do have ANTIVAXERS/Antimaskers who seem to contribute to the statistics. Reading the local Florida news from Miami to North Florida. 5 police officers died with a week S Florida, non vaccinated, another women hospitalized for Covid finds out husband died at home with Covid. Mother has 2 sons die within 12 hours being vaccine eligible refused shots. Morgues Mortuaries stacking up with dead bodies soon FEMA to start supplying refrigeration trucks.
It’s only a mask and only now an improved vaccine and then there is the big BUT, BUT, BUT.
Wish Boogie a quick recovery and rehab!
If you want to be in crowds not attempt to wear a mask the so be it. The only thing worse than a lockdown and wearing a mask is DEATH.
And 2 ANTIVAXER Conservative radio talk show hosts Phil Valentine and Dick Farrel died since August 1st from covid. I know SO WHAT.
