We’re not all in the same boat. We have no pension and live off our savings and social security. We are good with our finances but we will use our money to stimulate the economy. Isn’t it better to use the restaurants, shops, travel, etc.? It gives jobs back.

Nothing for me so far.
I'm interested to see how it will shake out since I typically owe no taxes and don't have direct deposit info on file with the IRS, but do for social security. News reports say I should be getting a direct deposit, but will the two agencies work together to figure it out? Stay tuned! ![]() Last edited by queasy27; 04-15-2020 at 07:38 PM. |

I just read that the IRS is handling this, they will deposit the money into the checking account of those who had a refund and their checking account was on file already. This started last night (Tuesday) If you filed with the IRS but didn't have a refund, then you'll be mailed a paper check beginning May 4th at the rate of 5 million per week, and then could take up to 20 weeks. If you didn't file with the IRS, I would guess they use Social Security records, but I haven't read anything on that.

We got ours deposited today and I immediately wrote out 2 checks, one for the local food bank and the balance to the local diaper bank. There are a lot of people who need the money more than we do.

According to a digital banking service survey, here is where the stimulus money is being spent"
People who received stimulus checks starting Friday already spent 16% on food orders, 14% on money transfers to friends and relatives, and 10% on gas. Grocery stores are eating up 9% of stimulus checks while 4% of the money is covering bills, and 5% is being spent on video games. I would guess that some of the 14% sent to friends and relatives is also going to video games.
