Default Looking for a pet companion

Recently our 14 year old Yorkie succumbed to Cushings disease. We are a youngish couple in our 70s looking to fill this new void in our lives. If you or someone you know needs to find a home for their smaller, adult/senior, female dog because of a relocation, etc., perhaps we can help by providing a loving home here in The Villages. Veterinarian, grooming and kennel references can be provided. Please message us

Gotta love this place. My wife and I are also "youngish" members of The Metallic Generation. She just turned 70. Me, I've been there for a few years already. We tell each other that 70 is the new 30. Great, as long as there are no mirrors around.

But the pet? I'm partial to cats (live longer, less trouble, smarter than dogs) but if it is a dog you want, there is always an animal shelter. Our cat came from one and you'll never find a sweeter, more mischievous than she is. Thirteen years old now and still plays like a kitten. Keeps the lizard population down in the lanai too.

You will never find a better pet than one from the local Humane Society. I detest people who must have a purebred thinking it gives them some sort of status. Purebreds are prone to health issues & often come from puppy mills & breeders who treat their animals as commodities.

As an aside, why do dog owners think it is ok for them to visit other people's homes and bring their dog with them? It is NOT ok & you should not put your friends on the spot by asking them. I do not want a visiting dog running around my house, barking, peeing on my shrubs, etc.
