Default Service Smart is rated D- by BBB

Now 7 months into a contract I understand why they have such a poor rating. Recommend to anyone considering using them go to the Better Business Bureau website and read the reviews and complaints section. That will tell you how horribly poor their service is in great detail. They operate the opposite of how most service companies should...they over promise and under deliver. Starting the process of trying to get a refund of the remainder of our contract utilizing BBB, Seniors VS Crime and small claims court if necessary.

Stella -with a new name, they're ready to go under when they sell enough contracts--kiss your money adios. Why would any SMART person pay upfront for grass cutting?

I don't know about mowing, but they have an annual contract for fertilizing etc and its discounted vs. paying monthly.

Super discount when they go out of business, ask all the suckers who had contracts with STELLA--honestly you've got to be a complete idiot to pay any up front money for anything in Florida

Stellar did not go out of business. They merged with another company and became Service Smart. If you had a contract with Stellar, it was in force with Service Smart.

Stellar started by breaking away from the family business, and then merged back into the family business.

LOL....that is too funny. Stellar started as a result of the daughter of the owner of Service Smart marrying a guy and her father wanting to help his daughter out by setting her husband up in business. The result was, Stellar, which daddy controls because he put the money in. Next thing you know, daughter wants a divorce from the schmuck and daddy folds his business into his business. Daddy always takes care of his daughter. They live in The Village of Peyton Place.

Some of the more sarcastic folks on here are missing the point. It's not whether signing an annual contract to save money is smart or stupid but, rather, to alert people to the fact that this is an inferior company from a service point of view.

I like your version of the story. As Gracie would say, this is material for the Judge Judy show.

Guess I'm a complete idiot then. I have been paying yearly contracts for my termite bond, pest control, and lawn services since moving to Florida in 1998. Always have had good service.
