Smile Storm Update

Been watching the storm as it passes over. I can't seem to find any posts regarding the effect on TV. Could anyone update me or direct me to the thread? Looks pretty alarming from here in Ohio!

I sure hope you're all safe and, well, warm.

Thinking of everyone. Gook luck!

Lois

Lois,

If you can go online to read the online edition of The Villages Daily Sun, there is an article posted today about the rainy weather TV has experienced yesterday and will experience again today. Also, if you go on National and Local Weather Forecast, Hurricane, Radar and Report, you can type in TV's zip codes, 32162 and 32159, and you can see what the weather conditions are. I have inherited my mother's love of weather reports . Hope that helps.

Things here are fine, rain sporatically, not too much wind, but we are still on the watch for the potential of isolated thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes. There are bands of weather still to come but the severity may be no more than what we have normally in the summer.

My heart goes out to those who will be impacted when this storm makes landfall. It's not an extremely strong storm, but it is wide and slow moving. Prayers for those in the New Orleans area where, at this particular time, it is thought to be heading.

The weather we are having now is not nearly as violent as the regular afternoon thunderstorms of the last couple of weeks.

Many thanks. It's hard to be here in Ohio and have a home in Florida! Be down there soon.

Best wishes!

We ended up with about 1" of rain at our house yesterday from 1pm on. Around 6am the rain was pounding so hard on our bedroom windows that it woke us up. So far maybe 1 1/2" of rain today. Wind has been more of a breeze.

for those new to TV during a possible tropical storm or hurricane do not mistake what the media pumps out as "how bad it could be" and what we have seen here in TV.

As was said above what we have seen is much less than some of the "normal" summer time storms.

And for those who do not live in TV and depend upon what the media presents, keep in mind the graphics they present are not always representative of reality either.

I know the following is not nice to say, but their first priority is to get your attention followed by any information that will either keep you glued to their station or present enough cause for one to go back....often!!!

We all know they have a damned if they do or damned if they don't but the theatrics and scaring adjectives are at times out of line with what we all know to be reality.

Living here a few years makes one more weather wise.

There is also weather info at the bottom of this page for the local area. Current, today and two days forward.

I am here in the Chicago area like SchUmburger and will be down in just 9 days for my design team meeting! So exciting! But I currently have a small home in Boynton Beach that my caretaker has "hurricane-proofed" as much as possible for me several days ago by closing the hurricane shutters, turning off the water and electric, and tying up curtains! Waiting to hear back, but I think all is well there except for about 4 inches of rain and wind gusts up to 50 as I understand. Thankfully you should fare a bit better there, and I am excited to begin my build shortly! I keep checking in on the weather in TV and other than the rain it seems basically OK! Hopefully this will also be the case for those most affected in Louisiana and Mississippi it seems.... Lots of prayers for everyone in Isaac's way.

Here in Central Illinois we could use some rain. Drought conditions that will undoubtedly raise food prices in 2013. Actually, it is too late for the crops but would help fill up the lakes. I have a first cousin in Baton Rouge who is keeping a close eye on Isaac.
