I think that is awful.

Can you call the recreation department and see what they say?

Just an opinion but I think it is ridiculous to close a whole sports pool for one or two people. They sure are entitled to the space they need, but when the whole rest of the pool is empty???
Friendliest should mean sharing if it makes common sense.

I agree, that is awful. I would have been upset as well, and it doesn't seem right. : (

Sounds very unfair to me. You pay for the use of the pool, and even volleyball, water aerobics, etc. are activities that you could participate in IF you wanted. A private class (especially such a small on) takes away your opportunity to enjoy an amenity that you pay for every month.

Does not seem like a common sense approach to doing things here in the Villages.

Maybe someone should have requested the Villages employee to ask the Lifelong Learning swimming instructor if other Villagers might use the pool along with the swimming students.

Not too late to amend your Villages survey.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'm going to take Gracie's advice and speak to the rec department and see what they say.

Cool

They rent those sports pools for private functions all the time... I know the Villages Parrotheads have a private pool party every year at one of the pools. All us Parrotheads are Villages residents.

Besides, I would guess that the folks you saw in the pool (all 2 of them) are Villages residents and have paid the same amenity fees we have.

Default Hold on.....please!

I disagree with these complaints.

The pool is closed for two hours out of a WHOLE day.
That covers TWO classes back to back.

The fact is these VILLAGERS are paying the Llifelong Learning College for a course to learn to swim. The College rented the pool for these two hours to run the class. If there was miscomunication in posting it in the paper, well, it's not the instructor's fault. Stuff happens.

It doesn't matter how many showed up on that particular day. Stuff happens.

When I take water aerobics, the pool is limited to only those in the class DURING the class. (and my class is free to residents, not paid.) Nobody waves their hands in the air over that. Men's water volleyball is right after my class.
Sorry, but you can't do laps in the middle of THAT either.

There are many other sport pools/family pools that you can go to if you HAVE to go at that particular time. You help pay for THEM too, so you aren't denied your amenities one little bit.
I'd like to say,"Kwitcherbichin.... but that's probably not nice, is it.
